Xbox360 Wireless Controller battery woes

Am on my third set of the Plug&Play batteries. Is it normal for a fully charged battery to drain down completely within 24 hrs. I've noticed this happening no matter whether i leave the battery in the controller or detached from it.

Extremely irritating as the battery is dead almost all the time that i want to play on the 360. Considering going back to the AAA rechargeable cells. Old-Skool but atleast trusty. What brand and model should i go for?

i do obviously turn the controller off.... and inspite of that the play&charge battery doesn't make it past a day :console: Strange thing am on my third battery kit, and all 3 of them seem to discharge wayyyyyy too fast from a fully charged state to a drained state.

Lol. 24 hrs ? seriously ? I am SOOOOO glad i stuck to rechargeable Nimh batteries all this time.

They easily last 20-30 hrs for me on a single charge (and i mean gametime. not just standby time. with vibration. the batts last on standby for weeks).

I use Sony 2600 Mah cells. maybe thats why.... :/ Although i got a dozen Energizer 2500 Mah cells lying around too....

just make sure you dont get a too fast charger and the batteries will last hundreds of recharges... (my energizer bats are like 3 years old now)

Allright then NImh it is then...... Will get the sony 2600MAh ones then....

Yeah, do that. I have the same above mentioned setup. Sony NiMH 2500 mAh batteries. What gonekrazy said is exactly the same for me  Never had faith in those battery packs :chair: Besides, they are swappable with my Wiimotes :P

The only thing with regular AA cells is that i somehow find it very tough to remove them from the controller. Am scared i may break that little plastic housing in which the cells go. Thats what drove me towards the plug&play batteries in the first place 2 yrs ago.

Does no one else find it tough to remove the cells like i do??

Don't worry about it. the casing never broke in 3 years although one of my controllers the casing actually split in half. (cause i dropped the control...)

nothing some superglue couldn't fix though :D

P.s:- after a couple of months removing the casing becomes pretty easy. I'm guessing it loosens up a bit with repeated use.

UPDATE : got 2 pairs of sony blue energy cycle 2500MAh batteries yesteday from alfa. The guy at the counter was pushing hard for the eneloops too but they were frickin expensive at 1700 for 4 batteries n a charger. 2000mAh but the eneloops tend to last much longer nah?

Even I had heard about Eneloops and some other "very good brand" named Uni something, but I went with Sony. It would've required a little bit of research for me to get those other brands, so I just went with Sony.

My friend has had these for his Cybershot for 3+ years now

Sony is Sony :clapping:

In TE, a dealer mediahome sells Sanyo Eneloop AA - 4 Pack @ 599(without chargers)... people tell tat it lasts 1 week of charge with xbox... I got no idea... but planning to get it... BTW, for how much u got those batteries? Does it come with charger?

shouldn't AA batteries last more than just 1 week? i mean the discharge rate should be minimal. When i started playing on the 360 3 years ago, my AA's would last definitely for almost close to a month with about an hour per day.

The Sony's i got were just 4 batteries... didn't opt for the charger pack due to cost reasons.

Well, it mostly depends on the usage :P I use them either in 360 controllers or in Wiimotes and play for almost whole of the weekends, and those batteries last me at least 2 to 2-1/2 weekends before another recharge is needed :ranting: Thats almost 8 plus hours of gaming on Sat and Sun

I just love these  Also have a friend who bought those battery packs, and he used to complain to me all the time about it needing to be recharged again and again and was asking me what I used. Told him about these rechargables, and he's never went back to those battery packs again

I was on my third battery pack.. tell me about them :P

Seriously apart from the ability to continue playing via the usb-cable ( incase your battery runs out during a game ) the play&charge kit is absolutely useless. The battery-packs discharge way too fast. Even with minimal usage. And by fast, i couldn't get mine to last beyond 24hrs with no use.

Happy am back to old school AA's now
