before the thread is locked ..i was thinking of getting an lcd monitor my self ... the one you got seems to be just the one am looking for

1)how does the color/contrast compare to other tv/monitors?

2)how is the quality through the audio-out for the hdmi?

3)does it have component cable input?(360 core :) )

4)@PW did you get the same monitor or something else?

@PW post pics of it when you get it...with some hd wallpaper or something

does anyone know what Dynamic contrast ratio mean?....most of the monitors i see have a contrast ratio of 1000:1 ... but the DCR varies a lot with different models(from 10000:1 to 5mill:1)...is it worth investing in the higher models or is the change very minor..

also does anyone here use a component-to-whatever cable converter... will there be any quality-loss and whatnot if i use a component-to-vga cable?...it ranges from Rs300 to Rs2000,is there any difference?

edit: man thats a lot of questions ..lol

:) Maybe I should connect my PC to your window. The angles cant be worse than my monitor.

Pictures would be nice once you have it.

@Shadoken Contrast ratios determine the depth of blacks in the LCD. Higher means better blacks and better visual fidelity. I think. I am not sure about quality loss with a converter. I do know that VGA and component offer the same quality (I have connected my Xbox with VGA and component and I honestly cant see a difference) but I am not sure if you will loose quality when you use a converter.

So basically I am not sure about whatever I have said. Pretty much how my conversations in real life go. :/

lol...thanks anyway... am asking specifically abt vga-component because ..i heard hdmi cables or hdmi-dvi dont have quality loss since they are digital...so gettin a rs500 cable is the same as a rs 3000 cable(sans the length) ...

My monitor Rocks Ma World. (full stop) :P

It's quite brilliant, the desktop real estate is soooo huge....check op for more details.

I recommend this one if you have the money or else go for the cheapest 23-24" monitor

Sorry for the extremely late reply, but here you go:

1)how does the color/contrast compare to other tv/monitors?

It's good, better than 1080i tv for sure....but being TN panel it has it cons.

2)how is the quality through the audio-out for the hdmi?

It's decent. Stereo sound only as it doesn't have digital out.

3)does it have component cable input?(360 core sad.gif )

NO. Only D-Sub, DVI-D and HDMI. You can connect your 360 using a VGA cable (available for around 500)

Hope this helps.. I have clicked some pics....will upload them here tomorrow :P

Just came across to this 3d monitor by acer. It seems to be affordable too $400. Anyone who can throw more light on this --

I am planning to buy a 24 incher. This wants to make me wait :(

Its available in amazon for $ 391. Strangely there are no reviews yet.

Jebus. Didn't think 24" would be this big. Massive jump from my old 17 incher.

I like it, it's damn good, but the sound output is terrible. Good thing I have Trittons that I can connect to my PS3 directly. I'll post pics in a bit.

So, tell ur experience with the monitor. What about the image quality ur getting from PS3?? I am also interested in buying one.

:happydance: for ur new monitor.
