HDMI to VGA converter

hdmi to dvi converters (or cables) are available everywhere - most WS LCD monitors (19") support DVI input and a 1440x900 resolution - good enough for 720p

HDCP compliance is required on the monitor in oder to make use of a HDMI to DVI cable and none of the 19" monitors have this. Even in 20" and above only a few chioce monitors like the Dell ones and some others have this support. Without HDCP support you will be greeted by a blank screen when you try to use a HDMI to DVI cable. I am personally using the HDMI-DVI cable on my 20" HDCP compliant Dell 2007WFP LCD.

The alternative solution is to get that immensely costly HD Fury HDMI-VGA adapter (I think it works only for games, not for actual protected content like HD movies as it would be direct violation of HDCP rules maing it an illegal product) or get a component to VGA transcoder like those XCM VGA boxes on Play-Asia.

you're right - LG 19" supports HDCP, whereas samsung doesnt (at least in its 19" variants). Viewsonic doesnt support HDCP period (at least for now), Dell has one 19-incher with HDCP support.

check the LCD Monitor thread for more info.
