Hi,

This is the second time I am connecting my ps3 to internet via youtele broadband conn.

the first time i connected, i setup the entire conn details and also updated the system from 2.8 to 3.15 (current).

But today as i connected again, it is giving me an error as below-

80130412- PPPoE username and password is not correct

i connected to my laptop, it works.

again i connect to ps3, it doesnt.

can someone tell me what might be wrong.

i goggled it and came across lot of things, but it is confusing.

has anyone faced this?

let me know. thanks.

I think you will need to reboot your modem. Some modems get locked to the MAC address of the device they're on and do not work on any other MAC address.

My friend had one stupid cable internet connection where he did not even have a modem. He tried using net on PS3 for two days but it always gave same error like you. Then he called the company guys and they told him that the MAC address was locked into the company router or something.

probably ur laptop internet is locked on to a MAC address. if u need internet on the PS3 ur MAC add. needs to be resetted or it needs to be dynamic wich i m sure it isnt.

to get ur net back on to the lappy again the mac add. needs to resetted again. n again n again everytime. ur operator might not do it all the time.

thanks all for the replies.

after posting the problem that day, I logged into my account on youtele.com

the MAC address locking thing is correct.

there was an option "dual MAC update" in my account options.

i saw that there was 1 MAC registered there - and it was my laptop MAC. but there was an option to add 'new' MAC.

so i also added (registered) my PS3 MAC on the site.

and it worked. hv been playing uc2 online ever since. :-)

but now i also need to check my laptop. havent connected the laptop to internet after that.

will check whether in course of adding the ps3 MAC, the laptop MAC shouldnt be made inactive (i doubt that, but will have to check it.)

but its good that youtele has a dual MAC update option.

Hmm best option is to get a wifi router and then get that mac registered with Youtele..you can do it on the website itself....then you can connect as amany devices as you like whenever you lilke..the only limitation being the resultant data transfer speeds...due to several machines being connected...

BTW Do you have a situation with Youtele where your upload speed is always higher or equal to your download speed ?? I have had that problem for ever and youtele can't figure out what the problem is...

i have youtele plan of 192kbps day and 1mbps night (10pm-8am)

daytime reliability is more than nighttime. i put a complaint request. and they asked me to take screenshots of download speeds and report to them. am doing it right now. its good that i am at least able to play, but i get very pissed off at night when i see that the speed appears less than daytime speed. wonder what crap these guys are doing in background.
