I have been using MTNL DSL 5 GB plan but the bandwidth is limited so wanted to switch to MTNL 1 Mbps unlimited plan. Here are some of the questions

1) I have been getting great speed on my existing plan till i download 2.5 Gb which i guess is FUP limit speed around 1 Mega Byte per second (yes its correct)

2) Whats the FUP for MTNL 1 Mbps unlimited plan ?

There is no such thing as MTNL customer service. :naughty:

ROFL. I remember way back when I was using MTNL's DNS instead of openDNS and their DNS went down, I called them about it and the guy was all like "Sir I am logging a complaint and someone will come over to your house and fix it" I was like WTF? How are they gonna fix that from my house?

Do mtnl's so called "customer-service" reps still answer the phone with that horrendous opening line "Namaskar Call-Center" ??? :majesty:

I remember calling them up way back when triband was introduced... and couldn't stop giggling as every question i asked in english or hindi was replied back in marathi.

Never heard of fup being implemented by mtnl... i guess they themselves don't know what it is  And they are clean.. no traffic-shaping. No blocking ports or torrents... Ignorance is bliss is probably what they believe in.

All this doesn't really answer the OP's questions. But i'll just add one thing... a 1MBps UL plan is anyday better than a plan with a 5GB download cap.

You gotta call DishTV sometime. Every sentence, and I mean literally every sentence they say begins with "Mister XYZ Jankari dena chahoonga...". Its really, really weird.

+1 Airtel reps do the same if u chose hindi as your preferred medium on the IVR.

Quality at work insists each time i have to transfer a call to level2... i have to begin the sentence with " Let me tell you........... "

I have tried reasoning a bazillion times it's just not english to talk that way.... :) But i haven't given up.. i simply don't talk in the scripted way they want.

Talk about Indians being the most polite and grammatically correct peeps for outsourcers

Tsk Tsk

Heh back when I used to work Tech supp for this UK ISP I just used to cold transfer the f**kers. Even though the SOP was to make sure you talk with the level 2 Rep before you transfer. At times we would just put the customer on hold and transfer him without even telling him we were doing it. :P

It stopped being funny when I became level 2. :(

Thank heavens we're allowed to do that if the saamne-wala dept has calls waiting. :)

We werent allowed to cold transfer. It was a*s backwards retarded. If we couldnt warm transfer we had to tell the customer to call back. And our Average wait time before the customer got through to the first line was about 20 minutes for most of the day.

Needless to say we had some pretty pissed customers.

Thankfully our quality guys were predictably lazy, any call that was longer than 10 minutes would never get picked up for an audit. So once your call was about 15 minutes you could do whatever you wanted. :)
