dante77
What is the best alternative of VLC? also, is there really some kind of tracking software through which company can detect that I installed vlc or any other app after un-installing or is it just to scare us? Currently using Kmplayer, its good but I want vlc back tell me there is no such thing as tracking installed app
Big Boss
You mean on PC? Yeah they can easily track using registry entries and other files. Dont risk it if your company is strictly against it. Try to use remote versions i.e. which just give you files and there is no need to install. And dude, VLC etc install loads of video drivers which make entries in loads of registries. Which company BTW?

dante77
HP I was expecting a "Bullshit, install VLC and be happy" reply Now, alternatives?
dante77
So, what exactly is portable version (looks same to me) and how is it different? and I am pretty sure any kind of vlc is restricted. Bullshit policy this. They themselves said that problems occur IF you increase volume more than 200%. I am sure there are other media player which allows you to extend upto 400% volume. Shantz
It's not volume. VLC was banned for some time at my work place as well. It was known to have tons of exploits floating around.

Solitaire
So, if your work machine goes down, you have to haul it over to the IT area or fix it yourself? No, I have to get my manager to approve some guy to come in, with someone from security alongside, to fix it. So far, I've dealt with any IT issues. Also, the IT area is called Techlink (you can call in too if you need them to remotely help out with account stuff) and it's in a completely separate building called The Commons (like an aggregation a small mall sized buildings). Tech support here is amazing though, thought it would be some lame call center but it was the right opposite.

Aftrunner
I am having a bit of a weird problem with my Lumia 720. Whenever I copy music or videos on to the phone I end up with duplicates. Sometimes doubles, other times triple. They arent actually duplicated on the SD card, there are only single copy of files. And space taken is right. But the phone seems to think that there are multiple copies of the same stuff. Looking on google, this seems to be a known problem with no real fix. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Any ideas?
dante77
Its also a problem with android (on stock), a normal reboot did the trick for me. Tried that?
