Bird Bird Bird
why do they keep pushing out RTs, it is going nowhere, nobody wants it In MS's mind, RT = iPad || Pro/Pro 2 = Macbook/Ultrabook
achilles
So they're sticking with that positioning? Okay then.
avkash
In MS's mind, RT = iPad || Pro/Pro 2 = Macbook/Ultrabook but RT is not iPad, it is useless because the pro apps don't run on it and there are almost no RT apps, at max it is a browser, document editor, e-reader and movie watcher rolled into one I would pick an iPad over RT any day, in fact I would rather pick an Android tablet over it, it has many more apps also you should have used short-circuit && and not ||

With the pricing they've announced, seems like it ! but RT is not iPad, it is useless because the pro apps don't run on it and there are almost no RT apps, at max it is a browser, document editor, e-reader and movie watcher rolled into one I would pick an iPad over RT any day, in fact I would rather pick an Android tablet over it, it has many more apps Dudeeee, RT has MS OFFICE !! Honestly though, RT looks like a good device (even if it's locked down) but lacks good original content, which Apple megatons of ! Ironically, Android is more open than Windows. How times change ! RT is a compelling device, no doubt, but it has nothing going for it which can position it against the iPad or Nexus, heck even Amazon Fire They need more apps, which they don't have MS are in a fix, they can't put Pro on it since the processors will be costly and the device will heat, RT is going no-where they have designed it with magnesium and made it a premiere product, BC WHY ? they could have made it of plastic, sold it for like $249-299 and bam, I would buy one as well, you get market, devs make apps, look at Nexus 7, it has done wonders, Kindle Fire as well

Position and price it as a tablet and it's gonna sell like hot cakes. If they're worried about MS Office, add it as an optional download for 10-20$. If they're worried about MS Office, add it as an optional download for 10-20$. that is almost redundant now, Google has smartly bought QuickOffice and made it free on both iOS and Android. The only edge MS had was a free working document editor, which is now gone, and BC who needs Outlook on a tablet
Bird Bird Bird
^^ Beg to differ. Nothing can replace Powerpoint and Excel. No Open Office, no Quick Office, no Google Docs. Nothing.

Nothing. but of course, the thing is Quick Office works seamlessly with these formats, it works very well add to it that iWorks (can edit and export to MS Office formats as well) has moved in cloud and is free for any iDevices bought from now on, MS Office on Windows portables is just redundant now what was once a strong point is just an add on now

And these being productivity apps, not many would want to go through the learning curve when the present software has had a solid history. Certainly not me ! I tried using the likes of PP on Open and Quick Office and went back to MSO in 20 mins.

In a tablet , very view people would create a document that is complex. Most people would use just for simple changes, which Openoffice etc can do easily. View!=Few Having said that, 1) There is a learning curve involved 2) MS is not positioning as a tablet 3) If I (or possibly guys heavily dependent on/used/addicted to MSO) can get it for 10-20$, it's game on ! More so as it is (will be ?) better optimized for RT than open-source options. but his point is that you would need to learn it, which is a fair point

Solitaire
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7llUx3O6B8 http://youtu.be/E7llUx3O6B8 I was there, damn .... the man was pumped up as always. His entrance from among the crowd was like some WWE entrance But yeah, I'll be kinda sad to see him go. We may get a CEO who's better at some things but there's no one who can equal the genuine passion he had for the company. It was actually "Company Meeting" 2013. An annual event, his proper goodbye ceremony is said to come later.

piper
I have Windows 8 Pro N key but the Microsoft download assistant keeps giving me "not available for download in your country message". Tried every workaround, but no luck. Had a Pro key, but installed that already on my PC. Want to utilise the Pro N key for wife's laptop. Also, Windows 8.1 supposedly free for Win 8 users, but it never shows up. Got these keys from kind IVGians a while ago.
