Big Boss
Is this true: Phone BookOne of the first things to be thrown out of windows (not intended) when mobile phones arrived, was the little black book in which we scribbled info about all our contacts. Smartphones can store a lot more data and WP is no different. But what good is having the data when you cannot refer to it, hmph? Microsoft forgot that we may want to read it too? When you open any contact card, you can ‘see’ actions like ‘call mobile’ and ‘write on wall’ in large finger friendly letters, but the actual number, email ID or home address is in non vision friendly accent coloured miniature squiggles that makes me want to scream in frustration. C’mon Microsoft, when you don’t even have any built in contact/vCard forwarding feature, how do you expect us to ‘tell’ this info to others? Or to read out an address to the cab driver? I store a lot of info in notes, like favourite perfume & ring sizes of current girlfriends, names & birthdays of children of former girlfriends and such like. But just when I need that info, I’ve to put on my reading glasses and the moment is gone. Poof!! Those days are gone when girls thought guys in glasses are cute. Sigh!! Handling of Calls Let me get this straight first, the most basic function of a phone is to make and receive calls, right? Right. They why did Microsoft pay the least attention to it? To begin with, when you get a call on your phone, your only options are to accept it or ACTIVELY reject it. Hmm… What if I don’t want to take the call, but don’t want to tell the caller that I’m ignoring him? (of course Him, I’d never ignore Her). Or if I want to pretend I’m sleeping with phone on silent mode? What if the number is unknown and I want to use ‘Who’s Calling’ or ‘TrueCaller’ app to check before answering? No Sir, I have no option but to wait till the caller hangs up before I can return to slicing random fruits. It ALSO means that if a developer makes a “Reject Call with Message” app, it will not be of any use. Can it get any more unsmart than this? Guess what, it CAN!! Because when you’re on a call, you can’t use the numberpad in the Phone app to save a number which your caller may be telling you. Huh Microsoft, you talk of deep links between apps & hubs and can’t even link the Phone app with your Phonebook? The least you could’ve done was to provide a shortcut for launching a new OneNote here. Pity the thought never crossed your engineers. Coz after years of using iPhones, they’ve forgotten phones are meant for talking too. http://www.wpsauce.com/2012/05/windows-phones-suck.html
godspeed4476
Is this true:  i wonder when would he get his custom title of most foot in mouth , some 1 please do the honors To answer your query , no it is not true, other details regarding the contacts are visible on the main contact page itself, no unlike your friends, i have not tried entering the details of perfume, jewelly etc in the contacts page, but the contacts email address and other info are clearly visible when you select the contact, infact the entire exchange of emails and mails with the contact is visible in that page, and this feature is not even present in iOS i think. Also, if you dont want to let the other person know that you are aviding them, then simply side click the volume rocker once, and the phone would get muted, but call wuld not be rejected. Big Boss
^Thought so. Most of the articles related to Windows Phones are FUD. I needed some Windows user to confirm. Too much hatred on the net. Too much hatred on the net. I suspect some one doesn't want the OS to succeed dude, if you are refereeing to me there is no hate here was just saying it in a friendly manner and taking a dig at you . I do wonder though why do you hate the windows OS so much. because most of the stuff you are posting is completely fabricated without any truth to it, also just checked you can also add contacts while you are speaking on the phone
Big Boss
^No I was not talking about you. I meant there is too much hatred about the OS on the net. People are posting random things, mostly fabricated. I agree that OS has certain flaws, but everything seems to be blown out of proportion. Zeehunter
Momentum building behind Microsoft branded tablet rumour for next week Rumours are getting ever stronger that Microsoft will be announcing an own-branded tablet pc on Monday next week. Bloomberg only cites one person “familiar with the plans” saying Microsoft will “announce plans to sell a tablet running the next version of the Windows operating system under its own brand” while the New York Times claims a whole bevy of “people with knowledge of Microsoft’s plans” saying the same. The Microsoft tablet is expected to use a variation of Windows 8, known as Windows RT, that is designed specifically for tablet devices based on a class of microprocessors called ARM chips. The news would be a major departure from the traditional Windows software model, and would see Microsoft compete directly with their OEMs such as Asus, Toshiba and HP. “If Microsoft wants to control the entire user experience and the entire quality of their products, they have to build their own hardware,” said Michael Cherry, an analyst at Directions on Microsoft, a Kirkland, Washington-based market- research firm. While the move may upset some OEMs, they have little alternative but to continue supporting Windows 8, said Colin Gillis, an analyst at BGC Partners LP in New York. “If you’re a computer maker, you don’t love it,” Gillis said. “But what are you going to do? Build an Android tablet? Google is going to build its own tablet, too. Everyone is making their own hardware now. It’s like having a poodle in your purse. All the cool kids are doing it.” Microsoft shares rose 2.3 percent to $30.02 at the close in New York. Do our readers think this rumour is substantiated, and if so, what will a “Real Microsoft Tablet” look like? Let us know below.
