Startup, shutdown times are similar to Win 7 for me. TBH, don't see a reason to upgrade unless you've those fancy trackpads/mice to make use of the corners/gestures. Even i dont see much performance diff, only diff i notice is that startup screen and that extra huge fonts everywhere on that screen, its so annoying to use all those apps on a desktop screen .... so, i just boot up and go straight to the win7 desktop tile. But some apps are damn fast like Visual studio express .... and I like some apps like mail and photo gallery, the interface is excellent .... and even the integration with social media is handled nicely .... And if we're using the Desktop mode for everything, why not just switch to Win 7.
