Xbox 360 VS PS3 - Which one to buy?

Hello folks

 

I think its high time i get a Console, but even after burning a barrel of midnight oil i don't seem to come to a conclusion that would satisfy me.

 

Im a Single Player guy, not into MP (atleast not yet), so i have no problem with the MP part of either of these console.

 

This is what i came up with my searching around...

 

1. Xbox is easy to mod, therefore the cost of playing would be less at the end of the day. (and i condone piracy )

 

2. Xbox has 1+2 year warranty while the PS3 comes out with 1.

 

3. PS3 has BD and its less prone to disk scratches.

 

4. PS3 is hardware wise superior to xbox (purely my opinion)

 

5. The list of exclusives are almost equal for both of them, but i like UC, KZ better than Halo and Gears of War

 

6. (I think) PS3 does not have region restriction but Xbox has it.

 

7. I only have a old CRT 29" TV (so no hd), if this helps..

 

So with these criterion which should be my obvious choice?

 

Please post your Choice of Console and WHY?

 

P.S. PLEASE do not turn this into a mud-slinging contest, i just want a personalized opinion for my particular needs.

the point of my thread is to get justification on those point from those who has hands-on experience on one or both of the consoles.

 

if u dont have anything good to add except "crying wolf" and warmongering it would be best if u could take leave of this thread.

^^ haha relax , these days every time a new member makes a post , everyone accuses him of spamming. But very often many ppl sign up on ivg just to trade their games ,for taht they post non stop till they have the 50 post count,some are subtle and some of them are idiots. and there have been huge scams. Buy the PS3. Whatever reasons you mentioned - solid hardware, bluray, internet browsing, good entertainment console, no need to spend on other accessories (except a hdmi cable once you get a hd tv), very good line up of multiplats and exclusives. It's a no-brainer.

For the OP, the reason you are gettin unclear answers is because this question has been asked wayyyy to many times around here. Simply put there is no definitve answer whether one should get the 360 or the PS3. Both consoles now are mature and hardware issues that plagued the 360 earlier now seem to be dealt with with the newer Arcade versions. The PS3 has always been solid as a rock.

(yeah i know some got YLOD, but thats a minor fraction of the community).

 

 

The 360 may be slightly cheaper when it comes to games, but then a major selling point for it is XBL. And that is paid and it IS good

The PS3 comes with free online play...slightly expensive games. So i guess they even out here.

 

I suggest rather than fretting over which console to buy, buy one for now. Save up and buy the other one in a few months. That way you'd never feel you're losing out on either side.

go for a ps3 coz of its very good games and its a good media centre and the hard disk on the ps3,you can upgrade it at a cheap price..........i have both the 360 and ps3 ......360 is jsut good for the shooters but one can get more variety on a ps3....

Dude , no point asking other opinions , as it will go no where other than console wars , you have to decide yourself.I was in the same situation as you one year ago , I read tons of comparisons , reviews on internet , games that I would like to play which I was missing on PC and made my decision to go with PS3 since I had a high end gaming PC.

 

If u have a good gaming PC , PS3 is a better choice as most of X360 games are or eventually come to PC with more polish and better graphics except a few lame ports , otherwise you can start with a X360 although the accessories are expensive and online is paid , some titles are cheaper in comparison to PS3 , but recently all games are priced same for both the consoles.

xbox comes with 1 year warranty and the 3 years is only for the RROD and the E74 error or something. If you buy either console in Chroma, you can opt for 2 years extended warranty.

 

The BD's are less prone to scratches but that shudn't be a factor to decide which console to buy.

 

The number of exclusives doesn't matter. Just look at the games that you like and which console has more games that you will play. Buy that.

if you have a good gaming rig go for ps3..Its a better choice...if you dont have a good pc ..then the choice is difficult and only way you can take the best decision is based on the exclusives on both the console that you want.

everyone seems to be talking only about kz/uc vs gears/halo etc......Dont forget the 2 expansions for GTA 4 out for xbox....these 2 games the main reasons for me...
