Arre but gaming in PS3 can also be cheap without the problem of being termed as a pirate or getting banned from PSN. Yes you heard it right. Buy a game from an IVG vendor for a discount. (Say) get Heavy Rain for 2200 Play it and finish it in a week. Sell it on TP for 2000. Effective cost for the game turns out to be 200 (shipping extra ). Hello folks I think its high time i get a Console, but even after burning a barrel of midnight oil i don't seem to come to a conclusion that would satisfy me. Im a Single Player guy, not into MP (atleast not yet), so i have no problem with the MP part of either of these console. This is what i came up with my searching around... 1. Xbox is easy to mod, therefore the cost of playing would be less at the end of the day. (and i condone piracy ) what about rrod ? a modded console will screw you there. 2. Xbox has 1+2 year warranty while the PS3 comes out with 1. Chroma outlets offer 3 year warranty on ps3, but with 750 bucks extra, plus ps3's failure is much less compared to 360 3. PS3 has BD and its less prone to disk scratches. BD, yes a fair point, but unless you plan on purchasing lots of used games or playing frisbee with the game disc, scratchability should not be an issue in choosing. 4. PS3 is hardware wise superior to xbox (purely my opinion) umm.. not for certain, me2 looks really good and very close to UC2's level (uc2 still has the best graphics in consoles) while multiplats look better on 360 even though its equal for the last year or so. eitherway, both consoles are near equal and unless you sit with a lens and look frame by frame, thee difference is negligible 5. The list of exclusives are almost equal for both of them, but i like UC, KZ better than Halo and Gears of War Ps3 it is then. 6. (I think) PS3 does not have region restriction but Xbox has it. correct 7. I only have a old CRT 29" TV (so no hd), if this helps.. both will look sh*t on a crt, i recently switched to a hd screen after 18 months of 360 and 9 months of ps3 on a similar tv as yours So with these criterion which should be my obvious choice? Please post your Choice of Console and WHY? Go for ps3, reason being your choice of games and the fact that you are not much into MP. 360 is a very good console too but its more MP oriented than ps3- ME/AW notwithstanding. P.S. I will give you my personal experience - Read: EPIC FAILURE I had booked a Panasonic 32inch LCD tv which gave me a XBOX 360 console with it for free (diwali offer). It was to reach my place in a month or two. I was so psyched that day, i went ahead and bought Gears of War game from Landmark for MRP. Yes i was that naive Almost a month later i get the console. I connect it, remove the seal of the Gears of War game and play it for half and Hour and Voila, i get a Disk Read error. A freaking Disk read error on a brand new game. And by the time i realized i could exchange the game, i think the warranty period was lost. If i am not mistaken, the warranty period is like 45-60 days after purchase of the game.
