Dark Messiah
Hi all, i am looking for a good sound system for PS3. I am confused between a good set of speakers and headphones ? More inclined towards headphones since they dont cause much disturbance to others. Is there a lot of difference between speakers and headphone experience ? , if so which is better. In case of headphones which one is the best one to get. Budget : 10 to 15k

In case of headphones which one is the best one to get. Budget : 10 to 15k Get some good speakers if you can for that price ( if your parents don't have a problem with loud sounds ). I'd always prefer speakers than headphones. I myself bought a 5.1 sound system recently and I'm extremely pleased with it

jDaMn
Ok guys i have decided that i will go with the headphones .. will buy speakers later on Now the choice to be made Tritton AX PRO or Tritton 720 , or Astro A40 ? any other headsets with similar features too will do ? Good speakers>headphones, but since you have already decided... Will you be using this for single player or multiplayer? You can choose a great headphone with a JVC SU-DH1 (or similar adapter) or you can get the Tritton/Astro headsets (even these are just headphones connected to an adapter). The main advantage of the headsets is the built in mic (for multi player). Lots of guys on the forum have Tritton headsets. PM them for opinions. My recommendation - go for really good headphones, hook it up to an adapter and just use a normal mic. The advantage with a good quality headphone is that it's probably better for music and movies than a headset (when you are not gaming). You will also get full warranty for the headphones. Also, do a search, I think there are already some threads about this.

shubh
How do you connect a 5.1 system to PS3? Optical O/P? good question. specifically answering to ps3 digital o/p query n not dvd player or other 5.1 sound processors chip.: to get 5.1 o/p u need to use the optical o/o by using optical cable toslink u get it everywhr these days price vary frm 400-1500 frm my experience buy as cheap as possible qlty doesnt get affected as its transmitted via optical fibre. Anyway den select digital o/p under audio options of yr ps3 setup. lemme knw if u need any othr query

L33TWiZaRd
Not so sure if they are. Saw a few in US and Dubai. Pioneer/Onkyo and Yamaha all have come out with decoders with HDMi (Will let you know if i find one in India)
CarbonCore
can you give me a link for such a decoder which is available in India ? The decoder alone will cost you more than the PS3, and probably lot more. And only handful of games support it, including MGS4, KZ2 and FF13. tech_wreck
Not so sure if they are. Saw a few in US and Dubai. Pioneer/Onkyo and Yamaha all have come out with decoders with HDMi (Will let you know if i find one in India) Easily available. Look for Onkyo/Pro Fx/Yahama outlets. http://www.profx.com/ http://www.onkyoindia.com/ Google is your friend! And yeah they would cost somewhere of 35-40k upwards, but you'd be able to enjoy Blu-Ray in full glory.
LaughingMan777
(sigh) infrastructure cost is certainly shooting up as I reach for the true HD experience.
