Both 5850 AND 5830 at 15k? ATI must be high on something despicable.

You contradict yourself mate, "games and most apps have yet to fully use 4 cores" != "1156 may get 6 cores".

He mentioned that he would use the system for some time to come so instead of getting VFM why not get PFM? and be content with it for the foreseeable future?

If u read my post and his, u would've come to the conclusion that the system is for Gamind, AV HD and stuff. So isn't it better to get a PFM system than a mediocre system now and then again upgrade to yet another mediocre system?

bro i5 is not mediocore it is as good as i7 in realworld tests,i7 is for benchmark guys .he can always crossfire with 5770

Thanks for the help guys. I cannot go beyond my budget of 40k. So whatever is available in that budget I can only go for that :(

Anyway, I have a P4 3 GHz / 512 MB RAM / intel mobo / 6600 256 MB gfx card / 80 GB SATA HDD machine. How much can I sell it for ?

You can pay some one to take it off your hands :wallbash:

And why buy a gaming PC? You have both consoles.

Like you see my machine is way too old. Need a laptop for personal use (office laptop has no admin access, so can't install any software) My original idea was to get a notebook/macbook. But then, since at same price of a notebook or half the price of a macbook I can get a pretty decent gaming PC, I thought of going for it.

And err well....I can save on multiplat games by playing them on PC :wallbash:

bump - a small spanner in the works. The shop from where I was supposed to buy, couldn't come to terms regarding the price and he's stubborn to negotiate. So looks like I need another vendor. Anybody knows a reliable vendor ? I would need home delivery. Some guys have recommended 'Ankit Infotech' in SP Road. Please let me know if you know of anyone else.

to start off.... AMD's am3 chipset mobos are confirmed to support their 6 core cpu's...

so i recommend going b tht way...

and there is no point buying a 785g chipset mobo when u cn afford... a 790gx one...

PII 955 is a gem.. easily clocks to 3.6 and higher...

and 5770 is def pwns 4870...

r get a 4890 instead... 'coz they'r going on huge sales these days....

u must've got these suggestions already.... couldn't go thru the whole thread...

  • 2 weeks later...

Dude,

For a cabinet - Check out the CM Elite - Not too pricey about 2.5 - 3.5K i think... the 690 is a good buy too...

The 5770 rocks... only reason i can think of going for the nvidia right now is the the physx effects in Batman AA (but cripples the fps - Sniff sniff)

Buddy built a rig last month - got the i750; I think it was overkill but he really really wanted it

Head over to S.P Road... I generally buy stuff from Ankit Infotech (but only after asking around for competitive pricing - Ankit will match or drop the price)...

Piece out
