PS3 downloads excruciatingly slow

Guys.... :threatenlumber:

my ps3 downloads are flying like a doper on crack :nerves:

forwarded the ports for the ps3 on the airtel modem as well as the wifi router. Setup a manual ip for the ps3 and set it in DMZ on the airtel modem. Looks like we are flying. Cant wait to get unthrottled and be back to my full 2MBps speed this friday. :furious:

Anyone having any issues please head over to the new thread started by coolrocker in the Techzone section. :chair:

@heatman

@nunni

@heatman

Thanks sweetie... that one worked. Now how do i configure it though

1)Click on the Ps3proxyserverEX

2)Now ps3.proxy server should be running

3)in the I.P. address box type "YOUR IP ADDRESS" (without the quotation marks)

4)Leave the port at 8080(Unless that port is being used by a program or other computer in your home)

5)Check The "ps3 mode" box

6)Click on the large start button

7)Now go to your ps3,go to modify your network connection settings, Use your normal configuration...But when you get to "proxy server" select "yes" and in the address box type YOUR IP ADDRESS

8)Leave the port box as it is!

9)You will be running behind a proxy server!

Please note that the ps3 proxy server blocks your system from recieving updates, so if you want to update your system you must leave the proxy server and then check for updates.

same mistake wht i did , .net framework is not backward compatible so it has to be precisely the version it wants.

anyhow , the purpose is solved :giggle:

Why don't you try PS3Proxy, I never download directly on PS3.

My great Tata connection drops like a bitch every 10 mins and almost every time file used to get corrupted and I had to redownload. With PS3proxy, I download with Flashget with Max D/L speed possible, no file corruption at all.

Bro could u pls explain how to do this?? I ve never used a proxy for anything... Pls help. I also have the problem of Ps3 installation files getting corrupt

I cannot explain better than how Fatman did. Here you go:

Hmm.. You can also try PS3proxy.. dunno why many people out here don't use it/recommend it, but i am using it and its an awesome piece of software..

Its basically acts like a proxy server by virtue of which you can download files like demos, patches etc. from the PSN directly to your PC & then route them to your PS3..

Works easily and flawlessly..

In case you are interested, here are the steps :

Download these files:

-CF3B5's PS3.Proxyserver GUI --- http://www.ps3news.com/forums/downloads.ph...ile&id=3673

-MS Net Framework ---- http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en

Next:

-A.) First, make sure the app is running in PS3 Mode (usually by default), by clicking the appropriate radio button.

-B.) You will now need to enter your computers local IP address into the designated text box. This will usually be 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 if you do not have any other computers running on your network, otherwise check in your router settings or just go by process of elimination (try changing the third digit for a 1 or a 0 or try to keep adding on 1 to the last digit ie 192.168.0.2 etc.)... You will know if its the wrong IP because the app will give you an error along the lines of "Unhandled Exception" when the start button is clicked

-C.) Most likely you will just need to leave the port field as 8080, unless you have specific settings blocking that port.

-D.) Click on "Start" .. ( there shouldnt be any error..)

-E.) Next up you will need to change the connection settings on your PS3. So go down to connection setings in the settings column. Select custom settings when prompted, and leave everything default except for "Use a Proxy Connection"; enable this. add to it the same IP and Port that you entered in the Proxyserver.

-F.) Now sign into PSN..

-G.) Either -- i) Enter the PSN store n start the demo u wanna download..

ii) OR Start the game u wanna update so that it starts automactically downloading the patches..

-H.) Once u see the download bar on the screen, stop the download.. ( i.e. press cancel..)

-I.) Go to the Logs tab ( on the PS3proxy GUI..)

-J.) Right click on the topmost link which should be the URL of the game.. ( ends with a *.pkg extension.. ) & copy it..

-K.) Download it via any download manager.. :)

-L.) Go to the Replace Files tab ( on the PS3proxy GUI.. ), press the Add button..

-M.) Paste the link which u copied ( i.e from where u downloaded the *.pkg file.. )..

_N.) Select the small button in the right field and browse for the downloaded PKG file.. & select it..

-O.) Sign into PSN once more n start the download of the demo / patch once more..

-P.) MAGIIIIC.. !!! .. The file starts installing over ur local network i.e. the file u downloaded starts installing..

:) .. Very easy.. Once u do it a couple of times, its a breeze to do.. :)

 ..

Hope it helps..

doctor sahib, are you using a modem + wifi router? if yes, put the router lan ip in the ps3proxy app. i put mine as 10.0.0.2.

If not then 192.168.1.2 should do fine.

As far as the app downloading itself, i used the linky provided by heatman... if u cannot download it, pm me ur email address i'll zip it up, change the extension to jpeg and send it to u.

As for uPnP, i have set it ON.

Connection test failing on the ps3 means you probably DO NOT have the app running on the pc with the ps3 option checked. You need to click the start button in the app and only then enable proxy on the ps3 in network settings.

Feel free to approach me for any questions....

bro got it working finally. i connected my pc to my modem via usb and to my ps3 via ethernet cos i figured that they had to be connected to internet simultaneously. i dont have a router so couldn't connect both at a time before....... and i also googled the software again and found the correct one. thanks Jigsaw

yea dude its awesome. i m using Flashget to download the file... Well atleast we get to know the speed of download. i have 256 kbps connection and its downloading at 24kbp average consistently. that's pretty good speed for my conection...

@kamalpreet: bro did u connect ur PC and PS3 to internet simultaneously? I have updated to 3.15, the latest firmware, and its working fine. did u download the software exactly as given in the link? don't download the PS3 proxy by 3r1c. it doesn't work. download the one by CF3B5. google it and u can find it...
