Sorry for digging the grave.. I thought my question suits this thread..

Apologies for the noob question:

If I want to use ps3proxy, how do I get to connect my pc with ps3? here is my setup. I have a router+modem from airtel, PC connected wired to modem, ps3 is connected via wifi. What do I have to do in addition to make ps3proxy work?

^Here is the guide: http://archive.techtree.com/techtree/jsp/article.jsp?article_id=115651&cat_id=899

You will need to start PS3Proxy, click on PS3 Mode, enter the IP address of your PC in the Proxy part. Then, setup PS3 internet so that it uses the Proxy same as your PC's IP address.

I understood that part. My main doubt is how will it identify the proxy part when PC and PS3 are not connected. Is it the job of router/modem to handle this scenario?

Both PC and PS3 must be on same wireless network. In your case, it might not work if PC is not connected to same wireless network.

@Django bhai : When you start the PS3 proxy tool on the PC, you will give IP address of PC and a port of your choice. Same IP and Port you configure on the PS3 Internet settings.

When PC is not online or is switched off, you will have to change Internet Settings on PS3 and make proxy server None for it to connect to the internet.

Give me a call if you have any doubts  .

piper, yeh sab kucch samajh aa gaya. I am trying to understand if it will work, if PC is connected to modem via wired connection and ps3 is connected via wireless. Will router be helping to communicated between pc and ps3?

I will give you a call if the things don't work

^Yeah, Django follow vinay's steps if you dont have laptop. Another way is to connect PS3 to PC via Lan, and share the internet. It might work. Or get those wireless lan USB dongles for PC, they are pretty cheap. Around 500 bucks IIRC.

See, typically the router will be assigned an IP address like 192.168.1.1 and your PC/laptop will have 192.168.1.x and same way PS3 also 192.168.1.x .

As long as the subnet is the same (i.e. only last digit of IP address changes across devices), it does not matter whether one device is connected via WiFi and another via LAN. I have tried it and it works.
