Sony's statement (as posted by Karoo) sounds full of bullshit.....read it carefully, they are contradicting themselves, as, if unauthorized access was the reason then what has that got to do with whether the PS3 is the Slim version or the Phat one??? :)

This is not the first time that this error has arisen with the first instances reported as early as June 2007. It apparently relates to the fact that the inner timing system of the PS3 was reset to 1st January 2000 on the last day of February 2010.

Hex number 8001050F translates into 2147550479 in decimal, which is the number of seconds since the first second of the last millennium. The bug does not affect the newer Slim PS3 systems that have been sold since last year.

what is the solution?????are the ps3s gonna be fixed????and @ phoenix even i'll go to the service centre if need be...when do you plan to go???

I think it would automatically get rectified when the internal date changes, and then sony would release a firmware update which will eliminate other issues which would crop up bec of this one....thought they wont admit that the firmware update contains any such rectification :)

When it gets to 0000GMT, the date will again be valid and the OS clock will be able to understand the correct date.

Wait till 6am !

Ten Things to Do During Your PlayStation Network Downtime

1. Alphabetize something – your DVD collection, books, sentences within said books.

2. Desperately search for your PlayStation 2. It still has to work, right?

3. Learn to play marbles with your cat/dog.

4. Take a late-night trip to the vet for a swallowed marble.

5. Read GamingAngels. (Obviously.)

6. Hide from Modern Warfare 2-obsessed friends that happen to be going through withdrawal.

7. Become a fan of “The PlayStation Network working properly” on Facebook.

8. Obsessively refresh the Sony PlayStation Twitter account.

9. Watch a movie you know well, and use your controller while it plays to mimic the characters’ on-screen actions. (It’s just like Heavy Rain.)

10. Be glad it’s at least not a red-ringed 360.
