Cash Posted March 3, 2010 Report Share Posted March 3, 2010 Hey guys, I was playing uncharted 2 campaign and after almost an hour PS3 got switched off with blinking Red light, When i swithced it back on i was able to play for another one hour but after that it goeas off with the same red blink.. then after few hours i played uc2,the same thing happend so i went and played mw2 for 1 hour and then turned on the ps3 and played KZ2,it was playing smoothely without any blinking or anything.. i played KZ2 for 2-3 hours then stoped as i have to study so my question is 1) Is it the problem of ps3 or uc2? 2) will the same thing happen in any other game?!?! 3)is there any solutions for this?! 4) any else experienced this?!!? This is strictly a hardware issue....in my opinion it probably means : 1) Your PS3 is suddenly going to go bust 2) Serious heating issues ...perhaps the PS3 is kept in a cabinet and/or has a lot of dust accumulated inside Do you hear the fan whirring loudly just before the red light starts blinking ...don't you get any indication on screen saying the PS3 is hot and needs to be shut ? ) 3) It seems this is usually due to the thermal paste on the processor (inside the PS3) slowly wearing thin and the CPU heating up severely , also due to a build up of dust inside the PS3 (which is inevitable in our country) the process is accelerated. However try keeping it out (if inside a cabinet) and try vacuuming the vents (do not blow air inside !) .........maybe you'll be able to solve the problem. How do I know about the PS3 going bust ?????? My PS3 went bust some time back after suffering similar symptoms for a while (surprisingly KZ2 didn't do it...but If I played BAttlefield Bad Company......first the loud noise of the Fans and then the red blink and beep beep beep saying the PS3 was overheated. kanbad Posted March 3, 2010 Report Share Posted March 3, 2010 i dont think it to be hardware issue....i amy be wrong .............but the problem seems to be of power supply...make sure the power in your area does not fluctuate....and also check if the connectors are properly seated in the socket.....hope it helps man....... scuderiaT1fos1 Posted March 3, 2010 Report Share Posted March 3, 2010 @ gladiator i had this issue with my phat PS3, it used to shut only during Uncharted 2, all other games used to work, its not a heating issue as all other games work . its a problem with Uncharted 2. in between the ps3 just switched itself off and the red lights used to blink, i checked the net and i figured out its a uc2 issue. thats why i have changed uncharted 2 disc thrice. my third one works fine tho .
