satanicsaint Posted May 21, 2008 Report Share Posted May 21, 2008 Man, this sucks :cry5: Purchased the Xbox a week back and got GTA 4 . I have played it for like 4 days now, approximately 90 minutes per day. Today out of the blue I get "data not readable , please clean the disc message" ( something like that) .I open the disc for the first time after I put it in to find concentric circles formed on the DVD! Just to be sure I tried Gears of war for 30 minutes, and it also came out scratched, though to a lesser extent. Now I`m afraid to put any disc in the drive. Be polite (i know its extremely tough to do so what with a craptacular console problem but don't take it out on the tech support staff, it's not their fault). He too had the same problem of getting his game discs getiing scratched. He call called the customer support and explained to them bout this thing... Congrats on the 95%! Also do keep us posted on what happens to your 360. You told them it RROD'd right? Thanks ..........Yeah RROD will they check for RROD ........my console ain't showing it but I would say that if there is one problem the other is also there and it crops up every time .... The executive took details to register me in to their datatbase along with product serial no. ( Does this mean if I sell the console in future, the buyer has to re-register??) Once I mentioned the issue she told me she would get the xbox replaced in about 5 days but not the game disc. I explained it to her that my brand new disk is now scratched due to a problem with the console and in all probability I wont be able to use it even on a new replaced console. After my insistence, she agreed to document my complaint regarding the disk but did not give an assurance that it would be replaced. well they are saying that they would replace mine Are they replacing the damaged disk too? Damn, I have used so many drives, drives in comps, drives in DVD players , drives in PS2 , a cheap cd player brought on footpath of SP road( B'lore) none of them scratched the media I used. To top it all, when I mention this, the support person goes like " Since the drive speed is much higher than a regular drive , it has to be used with caution" I am waiting for the console to be replaced now and if the GTA dvd is not working, I will hold them responsible and persue the case further.
