This time a debug unit. While the instances of Xbox 360 red rings have certainly dropped, I do still hear stories about the console's DVD player giving up the ghost. That's what happened to me in July last year when my last 360 died and that seems to be the case this time around. I was playing the end of LEGO Batman The Videogame when the game paused and a "dirty disc" error popped up on the screen. A few more runs at playing the game allowed me to get a few minutes in before the console crapped out on me again. Just last month my brother had his Xbox 360's DVD drive die on him as well. He recently went out and purchased a replacement Xbox 360 Arcade. For those keeping track I've now had a total of ten Xbox 360s die on me since the launch of the console. (That's counting debug units and retail consoles). Of those eight died with a Red Ring error and two died with perpetual dirty disc errors. Madmage Posted October 13, 2008 Report Share Posted October 13, 2008 Okay so this is reallly frustrating.. i have an *ahem* console.. but a couple of months ago i decided to go across to the light side and support the gaming industry and do the right thing. I went and bought ME, Gears and couple of other games from Planet M. I also bought a couple of games from our Trading Post. Started playin gears a couple of days ago and it keeps stoppin midway saying bad disc... its a new god damn DVD !! I keep my console horizontal as i read somwhere that keeping it vertical prones the disc to scratches. So is there a problem with my DVD drive or is it just that i got very lousy DVD.. the DVD though has no visible scratches but there is small slightly visible circular scratch.. Do i get my console replaced by these MS guys saying it is scracthing my DVDs? P.S -- There is nothing more irritating than getting a bad disc error after killin a whole horde of locust and the checkpoint being just a step away !!! "to play this insert it in Xbox 360 console" and to my horrer it played everything else fine ....for some time(read 2 days)...i thought that theres a big problem I opened the console and cleaned the lense(its was imported)....woot everything works again!!!
