ЯeVeЯse
Right, I originally had this problem with Gears of War. Whenever I finished the 1st act, it would throw up an error saying that the disc is unreadable. To find out whether the problem was with the system or the disc, I borrowed my friends copy of Gears of War and I was able to complete the game without one error, and I was in relief as it meant that my system was just fine. Everything was going good until today. I decided to fire up the Halo 3 campaign again as I hadn't completed it. Now after the initial cutscene is over, the damn thing throws up the same disc read error again! WTF? Now this definitely means that my system is the problem right? Should I just get it replaced asap? Or could this be due to a overheating problem or something in which it's gonna work fine after I let it to cool down? Amay
What's the condition of the disc? Does the console scratch your discs as well?
ЯeVeЯse
The games are new as is the system, I just purchased my X360 like 2 weeks ago. And there aren't any marks on the Halo 3/Gears of War discs.
vinitwins
some retail copies of halo3 were of a slightly inferior quality and could cause problems with picky dvd-rom drives. try another copy... V

Infinity091
Call up Microsoft, they will change your console and if it has ruined the disks like mine did they will change those as well.
HOglegtrausavo
That's what you'll eventually have to do.If the games are faulty.
Sunson
I went through a similar problem. First my GoW stopped playing, then it was Forza 2. What started as a once-in-a-while problem started becoming more frequent. Eventually it spread to all other games. One fine day, whatever I put in would throw up a "to play this disc, put it in an XBOX 360 console" error message. This is apparently due to a faulty disc drive. While "disc unreadable" "pop up" messages that appear in-game might be due to scratched discs, if your console starts with the above error message (with the disc in the console during startup), chances are your drive is dying. Unlucky you. For me, this happened for everything, including DVD movies. Here's what I did: 1. Call up XBox customer service. A singapore guy with a difficult to understand english accent tags this as warranting a replacement (your entire console will be replaced. My console had a Yuvraj singh autograph on it, I had to lose it ). They give you a 'replacement reference number' and then a local number (Chennai) to call. 2. The local number belongs to Reddington, Chennai - the 'official' gateway for X360 replacements in India, apparently. Give your reference number to them and they'll "get back to you shortly". 3. Well, they didn't. I called up after a week. Reddington kept saying, for about 3 weeks, that I'll get my console "by end of week". I had to change my tone - shouted at them. Then things started working. 4. Then they said I'll have to send my faulty console (the entire unit, yes) to them for which they will give me a replacement once the console arrives on their side. 5. I again shouted big time that it isn't possible and that I need the replacement on hand when I give away my current faulty console. 6. Finally, after about 1 more week, I got the console replaced. So that's about 5 weeks of being console-less :shock3: Anyway, Thus far this console has been working well. *touch wood!* ... and no, you don't have to pay anything for this replacement.
