The DVD Drive Problem Thread

I received my copy of COD 4 today....

I popped it into the drive and (x360 version) evrything was goin on well till the first mission after the CARGO ship where they show the execution of the president...

 

After that during the mission briefing when u are given info abt Nikolai..I got the "Disc Unreadable message"... After that every time I put in the disc i get the "This disc is meant to be played on Xbox 360 console" message.. Sometimes it works , sometimes it deosn't... I tried my other discss even they have problems being read...

The only disc that has no problem is HALO 3... Maybe thats because I play it regularly and most of the data might be cached on the HDD... All other discs either take a lot of time to boot or just don't read...

 

My box is still within warranty.. Isn't this a drive error.. How long do u think it will take before i get my console back after repairs.... I couldn't call MS support today since this happened after 6pm... Will call up customer service tomorrow...

Hope things happen fast .. Wanna play COD 4....

You maybe one of the unlucky ones. But when i got my console exchanged back in july, the whole pick up and delivery was done in just 3 days :thumbsup:. Even recently MT got his' replaced in a very short time period.

Don't worry mate. Just call up MS support tomorrow and it's better you send the enquiry no you get from tech support to Sanjoy or Mohit on the xbox forums and they'll take care of it asap.

Called MS customer service.... After taking all the details.. The exec said that they would call me within 5 working days....

 

I got a call from redington the very next day...i.e today... They said that the courier guy would conact me in 3 working days and he will be coming with a replacement... Once he checks that my console is not tampered he will hand me the replacement on the spot... :giggle:

 

Well thats impressive..Hope i get a call within 3 working days as they said...

Right, I called up Xbox customer support. A guy with a weird accent was at the customer care, and I told him about my woes. He then told me to unplug everything, replug the console in and try again. I did. Still no luck. Then he told me to try after removing the hard drive. I did it and it worked just fine. Then he told me to delete the game saves on my hard disk, and try again after reconnect it, and if the problem persisted, he told me to call again and mention a reference number that he gave me - in case the problem persisted, which it did.

 

I'm calling them again tomorrow morning.

MS customer service rocks.....I got my replacement withing 2 days.....

 

I had called on Thursday morning...

And I received the replacement today i-e Saturday....

 

 

Man was I surprised wen I got the call for the pick up today morning!!!

 

Amazing.... :D
