PS3 Disappears Off Shelves In Wake Of God Of War III

Recommended Posts

well this justifies that even if they have limited stock coming in you need games like GOW3 and HR to move the systems, but all said and done sony should get there act together...Kratos can do what snake and drake could not :threatenlumber:

When Mgs4 was out Ps3 was still quite expensive .

In the month MGS4 released (June 2008) the PS3 sold 405k units against 219k X360s. It had overtaken the x360 sales in May, July and was just a few thousands less during the other months. Im not sure if even the GoW3 can give better results, but we will never know if they have a shortage.

Lol Slim has been in short supply since holiday last year, GoW3 is just acting as catalyst. I know I had to buy UC2 bundle cause normal Slims were sold out everywhere, ended up having two copies of UC2

Also, MGS4 is worldwide phenomenon, not just the west, there's no comparison there :P

HR is not a system seller, GOW3 is. There's a difference between a highly anticipated game and a system seller. It's rare to see a new IP being a system seller.

Sony has had a shortage of consoles from December - part of it could also be MW2 - that was a system seller. One possibility for shortage could be rising prices on the manufacturing side - just normal price rise for components for the slim.
