Suggestions for the improved IVG

That will be wrong. I am not saying I dont like IVG in its current state. IVG is awesome the way it is, but if there has to be a change I would want a positive change. I have simply pointed out things I would not like (thus staying on the topic).

well said hammerhead .. wish teh other members were as open as ur r ..

^^ lol at teh KG and boarding school comparisons ..

Noctis!! we dont put our best step forward with a -ve frame of mind .. dosnt bode well for teh project ..

And going all +ve is the worst thing that can happen to a project. Anticipating possible problems is one of the most important step in any venture, just throwing them away as pessimism isn't very mature either.

I just asked a question, and a very valid one seeing the fate of many such sites.

One more thing is all the +ves you gave GUARANTEED or its just your imagination

if guaranteed then go ahead

I dont feel like dignifying your immature comment with an appropriate response.

This is the one creating problems right MT?

Not exactly, but its related.

And if IVG is closed down by the guys running it now after a little while because it's not going places?

Its not run for profit and hence it won't be closed down for the same. If the current staff does not have the time then they can always get enough volunteers from the community to help it. The same thing that happened with GI-IVG will occur again if some of them want to close it down.

Thats not how a corporate owned site works and you know it.

Parameters to judge growth will change if the deal goes through. IVG is not in the money making business in its current form

No clarity on editorial stance. You might see IVG at an E3 or at the launch of the next shady Zapak film stunt and worse, see a *good* review about it.

We have already suffered through several of your current employer's "events", so I think we are well insulated by now.

Yes. There are targets for member base numbers, editorial content, coverage efforts, reviews, site rankings, etc. If these targets are not met int he first two years, we dont get paid the rest of our money, but the site wont be shut down.

Milo is just pissed because one of the buyer's sue-diligence team members insulted his style of writing at the meeting.

Will this be part of the contract? Im talking about a teamxbox kind of situation.

Hell yeah! We are currently negotiating guarantees that the site will be kept running beyond two years even if we fail to meet the targets. Thats why the deal includes a cash reserve for IVG.

Plus we are also negotiating very very hard on an additional clause to guarantee the site's future, but I cant reveal the clause right now.

for people saying they will close down the site after 6 months - it's not easy to close something down after paying a bucket load for it. That too in 6 months. 2 years later - depends. If we don't do anything now this place will remain as it is for 2 more years - more spammers, and viagra being sold in TP (it's happened in another gaming forum).

Sam knows how many forums have closed in the last few years - truth is they stagnate. We don't and it's survived so far. But we need to make improvements especially in what we project to the outside world. And for that we need funding. So it's either stagnate or evolve. And I like IVG too much to let it stagnate.

@Noctis - MT answered both your queries I think. Yes - we will have performance clauses and that's required. Else we will have staff who can sit on their asses forever and go all emo at the time of change and hold us ransom. That's stupidity. Everything changes. TP is a mess because right now we have zero control over what goes on trades, how much is genuine trades, who is trading, who gets access. Every day spammers spam their way to TP - we can only do so much to stop. Even after warning from the mods people go ahead with the trade and when things go balls up "why didn't the mods do anything?". we need to put more stringent measures in place for TP. I don't want even those 30-odd negative feedbacks to be there. If we are such a close knit community how come there are unsatisfied trades.

Not sure where everyone got the idea that only gaming related threads will be there. That's not true. But we will need to encourage more games related posts. Hopefully giveaways and member-centric contests.

Staff changes will happen - wish everything was hunky dory but it's not. it's a new wonderful order in the offing.
