Bulovski
Damn damn damn damn damn damn damn - I don't give a hoot about FUP. My company pays for the line anyways and they will pay for the 4mbps. But they have capped their IPTV linked broadband connection at 1mbps - fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuk. Wat i understand is dat they are charging 200 bucks more in Delhi for d same plan These are two different plans. Rash is using Turbo1299 and the one junior mentioned is Turbo1099. I had asked the cc in hyderabad the same thing when I saw the new plan on airtel's website and asked myself why the f**k I was paying 200 bucks more for the same thing. They told me that the new plans have a greatly reduced FUP. Older plans had 50GB or so (dont remember as I dont go over 20GB or such generally) and the newer one with 200 rupees less had a FUP of around 10 GB. Worst part is that it isn't even mentioned on the website. I argued with him and many higher level ppl in cc for around an hour but all of them maintained that even though it is not mentioned on site, the FUP is very much there. CarbonCore
Lol 200GBs limit with 50mbps connection I have 4mbps unlimited line and download close to 1TB data every month. MTNL's maybe backwards and f**k bothered about its customers, but they still have best plans for downloaders.

Shantz
^^BSNL will follow FUP brigade soon.. Check TE.. BSNL kolkata has released new plans with all "unlimited" plans having ridiculous FUP limits
Shantz
I cross atleast 70GB per month... No FUP crap on my connection then the FUP might be even higher.. from what I remember, either there was no FUP earlier or they were high enough to make only the heaviest of downloaders (like CC) cringe...I never bothered because I don't download much.. but 10 Gig is too low even for a non-downloader but internet savvy person.. landmarktiger
There are 2 big problems with airtel plans - 1) pricing - they are way to expenssive with dowload cap. I lived in the US for a little while and i used to pay the same for 20Mbps UL as i do here for 1MBps 2) I actually tried the 16 MBps plan. It didnt help with youtube and Jtv etc at all - reason being - you might get 16 MBps DL to servers in India but as soon as you leave India, speed drops to 1Mbps. I was getting 1Mbps DL on US servers with 16 MBps plan . I switched back to 1Mbps UL soon after. They really need to fix this issue- They are prob. leasing bandwitch from other ISPs internationally and only lease 1Mbps from them to save money. I was in Hong Kong recently and they had a 3Mbps line in the hotel - but it was 3 mbps to all servers in the world - eevn US. Actually felt like i was using internet for the first time - watched south park HD without buffering.
Bulovski
^^ this. The internet speed can be promised sky high but till it's made available outside India, there's no point.
Ethan_Hunt
FUP is something which is holding back a lot of good schemes that Airtel offers. It's absurd to introduce such a policy. I have seen some European countries, especially Sweden, offering uncapped 16-20 megs lines. I understand the part that technically, Airtel is right in stating the FUP will only decrease the speed the download remains unlimited. But what good is a connection if the speed is reduced to the minimum "broadband" speed. For the 50Mbps plan, the FUP seems OK, but the pricing is ridiculous. I'm OK with downloading 200GB data in a month, but paying 9 freakin' grand for it is certainly not acceptable.
CarbonCore
Lol with 50mbps connection, you will cross 200GB limit in less than 12 hours. If you want to download stuff, better go with MTNL's 2mbps unlimited plan. Its 4k per month and you can download 500GB+ data per month.
DinJo
Rightly said with MTNL speed bumps you can download a lot.

I'd rather have the 1Mbps unlimited plan, if I shift back to MTNL. I have had very rare issues with MTNL back when I had it, but the lack of unlimited schemes and "the best" customer service, I decided to make a shift to Airtel. The only problem I have ever had was the lines being down for a weeks time if the cables would be cut. If that happens, then you can bet it's a hassle trying to get someone to even fix it up on time. They take their own sweet time for it.
landmarktiger
coz mtnl doesnt have to pay royalty to trai for bandwidth which is charged per mb Sometimes gov ftw !!! Is that speed test result accurate. How do you have a 8 Mbps upload - i thought airtel only offer max 750 kbps upload?
