STICK3Rboy
IGN's Review: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/829/829409p1.html Presentation - 10 Insomniac has created its most intriguing and diverse universe yet. The story is strong and ends with closure and a cliffhanger (figure that one out), while load times rarely exist. Graphics - 9.5 "Fantastic" is what comes to mind when describing the sights you'll see. A rock-solid framerate, crazy effects, a terrific art design and environmental activity galore. Prettiest thing on the system. Sound - 8.5 The recurring V/O cast puts in another high-end (and hilarious) performance. The surround sound effects make the most of your receiver as well and the musical score fits well. Gameplay - 9.5 Insomniac has the Ratchet and Clank formula down pat and the balance and progression of the shooting/ platforming/ space battles has been refined to award-winning levels. Fun, fun, fun! Lasting Appeal - 9.0 You're looking at a good 12-15 hour quest the first time through, plus a challenge mode option, tons of upgradeable weapons, plenty of clandestine areas, secret skins, cheats, cinematics and more. OVERALL - 9.4(Outstanding)

CarbonCore
Gamespot reviewed it The Good Shooting and platforming gameplay is fun Lots of different and useful weapons Beautiful, colorful visuals Tight controls. The Bad There's some good humor in it, but the story isn't very interesting, and the ending is a letdown So many different, often unnecessary gameplay mechanics that the game lacks an identity Difficulty is too easy and only the last hour or so is remotely challenging. Score 7.5/10 :roflroll2: Its official, Gamespot=MDF

CarbonCore
As per GS score, ToD is the worst R&C game in the series, heck its even worst than PSP version which was not done by Insomniac. Well done Gamespot, I just sent them an e-mail asking them to cancel my annual membership and the reason behind it.

rad2689
GAMEZONE - Review Scoring Details for Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction Gameplay: 9.3 The game does have a mild learning curve, but everything is accessible. Load times are covered with cut scenes, and while – if you just run through it – the levels can seem a little short, there is a lot to do and to explore rather than take a straight path through the game. Graphics: 9.6 This is truly a magnificent animated 3D game. The characters come alive and everything – from the animations to the environments – is pure eye candy. The cut scenes were derived from in-game assets so you won’t find a big disparity between live action and story point. Sound: 9.5 Sure, the game has what you would expect in terms of plot-driven dialogue, but it is the peripheral sounds that make this game truly fun to listen to. Difficulty: Medium Concept: 9.0 Some of the puzzle types are familiar, and this is a platformer, so expect to fight, swing and bash crates and cartons – you know, the typical stuff. However, the score here is bumped way up for the way it is all presented. This is not a lackluster presentation, but rather a thoroughly enjoyable affair that never seems to slow down. Overall: 9.3 Tools of Destruction feels a bit short at times, but that is only when you are just driving through the game, going from point A to point B in the shortest route possible. When you take time to explore, you realize how expansive this game is, and how wonderfully designed. Insomniac did a great job with Resistance: Fall of Man, but Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction shows where its forte lays. This is the studio’s second next-gen title and it is truly a terrific bit of gaming. http://ps3.gamezone.com/gzreviews/r31924.htm

rad2689
GAMERNODE- Game Score GamePlay: Fun, fun fun. The platforming is back in full force, and the action is frantic. Factor in good humor and memorable characters, and you've got a winner. Graphics: Like several people have said before me, this is the closest to a Pixar movie a game has gotten yet. The animations are fantastic, and Ratchet has never acted better. Sound: The music is very cinematic, and you'll hear tunes reminiscent of other songs. (Or maybe that's just me who could have sworn the song in the pirate area was similar to the PotC theme?) Replay Value: The game will take 12-15 hours to beat, and the challenge mode will double that. Factor in challenges and items to find, and you have a solid 30 hour experience. 9.5 Final Word: Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction is the best Ratchet & Clank game yet, and the best game on the PS3. If you love fun games, you'll love Tools of Destruction. http://www.gamernode.com/reviews/4758-ratc...tion/index.html
CarbonCore
All this anguish without having played the game yourselves. What are you saying? I've played the crap out of this demo, played it a dozen times over, and it has only 4 weapons and no boss fights. Are you defending his score, because even the most extreme cases of xbots I know on n4g are surprised by this half brain rant by GS.

MarketTantrik
@ CC: Heh Heh !! I was expecting this sort of response from you. You shouldn't get so worked up over a single reviewer's opinion of a game you have been eagerly anticipating. To go as far as cancelling your subscription based on that review is not becoming of you. So what if he thinks differently. A majority of the reviewers seem to love the game and you love the game. That should be enough for you. No need to force a dissident to bend to your ways. And as for what extreme xbots or PSf**s think, I dont give a crap about what the goofs at N4G have to say. I was simply commenting on your outburst against GS's review score. If you take that to mean I'm an xbot, you have a very jaundiced view.
rad2689
Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction Released Today– First Reviews Promising After some confusion Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction is being released today in the U.S. Is this the family friendly system seller the Playstation 3 has been waiting for? Early reviews say so. Many thought Insomniac’s new addition to the Playstation3 was going to be released in America on the 30th of this month, after the developer let us know that the little Lombax and his metal friend needed a bit more polish time. But what came as a surprise to us and even them, was that the printing of the game happened in double quick time. The Delaystation3 is no more! This little baby was going to be hitting shelves early, and stores were showing their excitement by advertising that the game would available for purchase on the 23rd of October, a full week early then originally planned. The 23rd is here, and Ratchet and Clank are not far from making your Playstation3 feel a whole lot more “futuristic”. So is this a quality title for PS3 owners and prospective PS3 buyers? To simply say yes would be an understatement. This is a game with qualities you will be hard pressed to find on any other system. From its bright and colorful action suitable for the entire family, to its sharp witted humour, and solid game play. The early reviews are in, and it appears that Ratchet and Clank is in position to be the classic holiday game Sony and their fans have been waiting for. PSM, PSM3, and EGM gave the game a 9.5, 9.3, and 9.0 respectively. We will be posting our review of the game tomorrow, but in the mean time, check out the list of reviews that are currently available online below. KnackChap
90/100 - Game Almighty The outstanding combination of tight gameplay and a first-rate presentation make it a great game. 100/100 - GameTap It's rare that a game critic feels the way I do about this game, but in all honesty, I find it really difficult to find something that's not to like. The controls feel great. The graphics look great. The score sounds great. The weapon selection alone make me want to play the game over and over again, just to test out all the cool offered. 100/100 - GamePro It's fitting that the first installment of the Ratchet & Clank series on the PS3 is called Future, because in many ways it sets the bar for all future PS3 games. Starting with the opening cinematic to the very last moment, the game is a prime example of what developers can and should do with the platform. 90/100 - Gaming-Age Saving the universe from has never been so much fun, or pretty. 94/100 - IGN Whether you're new to R&C or someone who has played them all, Ratchet and Clank Future deserves to be in your library no matter what. Not only has it supplanted Going Commando as the best title in the franchise, it's also the best game of any series on the PlayStation 3 thus far. 93/100 - Gamezone Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction is a feast for the eyes and a delight to play. You may find yourself zipping through the environments and an intended brief gaming session can turn into hours easily. 90/100 - EGM Game recieved 3 scores of 8.5, 9.5, 9, for a combined average of 9. [Dec 2007] 95/100 - GamerNode In Tools of Destruction, Insomniac is back doing what they do best, and they do it better than ever, This is the best Ratchet & Clank adventure to date, and at this point the best game the PS3 has to offer. 90/100 - Pro-G Insomniac has delivered one of the first PS3 games that is absolutely worth picking up. Whether you're a platformer fan or fancy some frenetic blasting action, Tools of Destruction fits the bill. 90/100 - PSX Extreme The gameplay is precisely what we've all come to love, except louder, more heated, more energetic, more fun, and with all new gameplay mechanics added to the mix. 90/100 - Games Radar Ratchet & Clank Future isn't a revolution, but it is a marvelously kickass game that'll keep you entertained for hours as you plumb the depths of its huge levels, find creative ways to blow up its monsters and try to ferret out all its dozens of cleverly hidden items. 90/100 - GameTrailers The size and scale of these environments are incredible, with so much little detail going on in the background and no loading time once you've entered a level. It's definitely the best-looking PS3 game on the market. 95/100 - PSM The PS3's Best Game Yet. Combines absolutely jaw-dropping graphics with familiar platforming/shooting mechanics and genuinely funny humor to make one of the PS3's few true masterpieces. [Dec 2007, p.66] 93/100 - PSM3 Magazine UK Intense, beautiful and accessible. A return to the series' roots and a stellar game indeed. [Nov 2007, p.22] ________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________ the only 2 subpar reviews comes from gamespot and 1up anyone surprised at that. quote from 1up review Of course, the PS2 games looked so great to begin with that it's harder to find that huge leap that some PS3 games can offer WOW

vinitwins
@vik: cc was simply surprised (and disgusted) that the game reviewer awarded ToD the lowest score in the franchise (across platforms) @cc: vik is right, some editors/reviewers love going against the norm for cheap thrills - why get so worked up about it? CarbonCore
@ CC: Heh Heh !! I was expecting this sort of response from you. And I'll expect same from you if Mass Effect gets 7/10 (which it won't for obvious reasons), its perfectly all right. I wouldn't have bothered to comment on it if it was from some SDF sort of site or from 1up. But GS is supposed to be one of the most reputed gaming sites and looks like now they have lost all their credibility during last year. They gave PDZ a 9 and resistance 8.5, wtf PDZ? I played that game and it was sh*t @cc: vik is right, some editors/reviewers love going against the norm for cheap thrills - why get so worked up about it? I paid 50 buck a year for last three years for their subscription, not anymore. In fact, I should thank them for saving me another 50 due this December.
