Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10" (the first one) is still going great with hardly any lag. I don't like Samsung very much but they nailed it with that tab. It was also built very well and looks great too! Nexus 7 seems great choice but 10" tab is always a good idea. I think tabs should be 10".

@Bird - You don't have to buy kingdom Rush again if you go for android tablet!

So peeps, looking for a tablet for my mom - primarily to play games (and surf the internet rarely). She mostly plays casual games like PvZ/card based games/puzzles/platformers. Looking at both Android and Apple. Been using iPad 1 all this while, but it's an ancient device now and half of the stuff has issues downloading on it.

Need recommendations. Would prefer a 10" as she is used to the iPad, but looking at cheaper options also since the usage is only for casual gaming.

Options that I can remember: iPad 4 among 10" || iPad Mini and Nexus 7 among 7".

Nexus is more desirable as I can sync my account and won't have to buy many games twice. iPad - she's used to it and quite frankly, better tablet games on iOS at the moment.

In the 7" segment, Rs. 9999 for a Nexus 7 would go a long way.

Sirji, my mom won't play KR sadly. Plus not too convinced on the number of tablet games (and apps) on the Play Store.

Yup, but will it serve the purpose ? Will it be appreciated by a non-nerd after having used iPad for a couple of years (build quality/feel/general UI)?

For Mom/Dad/Aunt/Uncle/Gran/Gramp, definitely got for an iPad over a Droid tablet.

I gifted my Mom her first iPad three years ago and she took to it like a fish to water. On her latest iPad now and she couldn't be happier.

Cool ! And yeah, finalizing the iPad wonly. Now stuck between getting 4 or waiting for 5. I suppose 4 won't go out of app support for another couple of years, eh ?

^^ I have no idea which ROM is good, but here's a list of all the ROMs available for Nexus4 :)

@AtheK, or whoever is familiar with this stuff.... I'm having trouble with my HTC One on ARHD 4.3 version ROM. Ever since I updated to the 20.0 (4.3) and then 22.0 (4.3), I've been having a few issues, namely:

- Issues with calling over VOIP while using a bluetooth device

- Lockscreen Widget not working properly

- Reduced battery life (maybe?) and I see AutoSync happen way too often now

- WiFi connection issues

These are issues I didn't have in 4.2.2. I didn't do a clean install the last couple of times, so I want to clean my phone completely and do a fresh install. I don't think my phone got cleaned when I selected the option in Aroma installer.

Also, is there any way I can just install the stock HTC One firmware? :scratchchin:

Chromecast at Rs. 4k with a COD option from this site. Is it worth it if you already have a PS3 doing all the DLNA currently?

Ya clean the phone completely, and you have still not tried Viper?

Yes you can get back to Stock easily by flashing the right RUU, just check around on XDA

@Kulfi: Don't think so mate.

Till yesterday it was available, seems Amazon have stopped it.

I have ordered one via ishopinternational for 3,499.

I would say its worth its price.

Very useful if you have an Android phone. Also works with iOS and Macs. Portable and easy to set up.

At the moment supports only streaming from few Google apps and Chrome browser. But i read somewhere that in future more apps will be supported and there will be a native iOS app also.

:giggle:yeah... I'm gonna try it this weekend, since ARHD has been giving me trouble. Thanks

edit: Looks like the Viper ROM is still based on 4.2.2 and not 4.3? :threatenlumber:

But yeah, I'll try it out anyway. :)

edit2: I just checked out a video about the Viper ROM, and it looks great! It has a ton of options and looks quick. Looks like I'll have to try it for sure. :good:

It is worth it indeed. For starters, you don't need to keep a >100W device running for what can be achieve with a watt or two. It also has much better compatibility and reach for content. Control is also easier with your phone.
