ALPHA17
Btw what is the diff between chrome and chrome beta? The BETA by virtue of it being a test bed software gets updated to the latest standards first (material design, new user terms et al). All this can horribly backfire on you if your handset does not have sufficient prowess to run said application.
ALPHA17
Any app to browse media files on desktop and play (smoothly). Similar to plex, but it should allow to browse the folders. ES Explorer or Root Explorer.

The Wolfy among us
So I'm better off using chrome rather than its beta version. You have a one plus one. It can handle everything the beta throws at it. Besides, Beta is not like it will crash any moment. Try it out.

Just that you get to see the latest features before it is officially rolled out. That being said, there are lots of other apps which have beta tests. http://www.androidcentral.com/beta

Try to use it on occasion, at maximum it will crash. Yeah my one can handle it but I was just thinking what is the point of having two similar apps that serve me in same way. You can try Javelin browser instead of Chrome for your main needs. Edited July 29, 2014 by ALPHA17
The Wolfy among us
Have you never enrolled in a private beta for a game? This serves the same purpose. We get to see new stuff early, and the developers get testing done, free of cost.

santanu18
For those who want to get their Mi3 today, remember to login 2-3hrs before it goes online at 2pm. Add to cart asap after it goes live & flipkart will notify whether you are eligibile to purchase it or not after 6pm. piper
ES Explorer or Root Explorer. Thanks. Tried copying a file using ES. Speed - 4Mbps. PC is connected via LAN. Isn't this slow. And for media files, will it suffice in terms of pausing, seek, etc.? Yet to add some fileshare having media, hence asking.
ALPHA17
Isn't this slow. Never used that function of the application, so really no comments.

ZooZoo
@Gaurav: You are using your One on Dalvik or Art ? I've Mi3. and i didn't understand the latter part. Been away from android for years.
Parvinder Singh
I've Mi3. and i didn't understand the latter part. Been away from android for years. My question was from Gaurav aka Solitare. He also has OPO so i was checking with him. Btw, ART is the new android runtime that will Google adopt in its upcoming releases. Currently the default runtime is dalvik and ART is currently in experimental phase and can be enabled in developer options. It must be present on your mi3 as well. All Kitkat versions have it. Some of the apps are not stable on ART as it is work in progress. ART

Been running ART for 6-8 months now.

Been running ART for 6-8 months now. There is a cisco jabber app (internal chat app for cisco) that crashes in ART. Yeah i agree that almost all the apps work now on ART.
