A must-read for all android users, especially if you are coming from a regular PC paradigm where any app open means wasted CPU cycles and RAM.

Even if you are not a developer, you must skim through this.

Multitasking the Android Way

Read it and decide whether you want to continue using your task managers or not..

Abbe jiggy I already gave you a 4 pointer to save your battery.. try that..

and @jiggy and @bul: Do not kill any tasks yourself unless you are very sure what you are doing..and especially do not use any automatic task killers, you are going to make matters worse..

Kindly share it here also Shantz.. :wOOtjumpy:

1. Keep backlight off, you dont need it to be on unless you are in bright sunlight.. Also keep the auto-backlight-management option off

2. Dont set any task killers to run on automatic mode, i.e., dont allow them to kill tasks automatically..

3. You can keep sync off through the power widget that comes pre-installed when you dont want applications to sync.. e.g. when are you are already at work..

4. If you want to save your battery further, turn off live wallpapers and use a static one.. although turning this off takes out half the coolness factor, so atleast keep it on for a few days in the beginning when all your friends will be looking at your phone to check it out and will ooh and aah on seeing live wallpapers :P

^^ :P i guess the E72 has spoilt me.

Am gonna take the phone as is to work... use it normally without constantly worrying about the battery life. Have done some R&D online, seems like all new Desire owners face the same issues as me for the first few charge cycles.. so keeping my fingers crossed.

Worst comes to worst, will order a new battery off ebay or buy an original one when this thing launches officially in India.

^^ absolutely +1

Glad i "kept" my E72.

In the Accounts & Sync menu, i disabled "Background Data and Auto-Sync", hopefully this makes a difference. The built-in mail app has been set to fetch emails from my gmail & yahoo accounts everyday at 7am-730am. Anything else i need to do?

Day 3 with the HTC Desire :P

i think i've screwed this and myself out of 27.5k :P

The battery drain is appalling. I used/played with it for over 5 hours after getting it on saturday night.... and have a bad feeling not charging it before doing all that may have screwed the battery. The battery drains at the rate of 1% a minute. Switched it off last night and put it on the AC charger. Sometime after 3 hours my dad conviniently decided to switch off the charger :ack:

Today morning i switch it back on... it begins with 100%... in exactly 10 mins the charge has come down to 92% :P

Have installed juicedefender since saturday night itself... rooted the thing on sunday morning.... am scared now

happend wit me too

uncheck all the auto sync options coz even if u r not connected to the net these apps still tries to connect to net n tht drains a lot of battery

kill all the apps whn the phone is not in use :)
