He's so used to creating walls of text for his contest entries, he cant help himself. :D

Lol, I know you're baiting me, but I can't resist when opportunities to write walls of reason present themselves

It's good writing practice :P for future contest wins ;)

as for the expression on my face, it's usually something I do on the side - this writing and replying to everything on forums business - while I'm busy with something else, you wouldn't have got much of a reaction expression-wise :) from me

One question though, what use is this battery charger unless you have a spare battery to keep your phone running while you charge the other one. Unless, of course, you don't mind having the phone off while you charge.

A note: I found the second charge took me much longer than the first when I was charging via USB (even with the phone off)

1. Btw, can anyone tell me how to switch between apps directly without going back to the main screen and clicking on an app from the list. And how to know whether I've closed the app or just left it running in the background (is going to "running services" the only way). In other words, I need to know all the keyboard/button shortcuts for getting around between apps.

2. Am I right in assuming that the widget with five toggle buttons (as I see it on stock android) on one of the homescreens has these buttons - Wifi , Bluetooth, GPS, some kind of refresh mail regularly or something button, and a brightness control - in the same order?

3. If I'm say downloading a game's files within the game and I hit the back/home button and decide to check my mail or make a call or install an app while said game is downloading, would the game have closed or would it be downloading in the background?

4. With reference to 3 and in general, does the recent items list that comes up when the home button is pressed and held a list that contains only OPEN apps or is it a list that has even ones that have been closed recently and will opening any of these cause the current app to close.

I'm loving how easy it is to use Gmail and other google services with this phone. So well integrated into it all.

1. Double clicking the home button will open a list of recently "used" apps, whether running or not. Use this to multitask. This also feeds into the answer for your fourth question.

2. I have no idea what your question means.

3. No idea.

4. See 1 above.

Thank you.

With regard to 2. , I think I'm referring to the power control widget.

5. And how do I put the phone in a locked state? The power button on the right does that old-TV-like-switching-off animation, is that the most direct way? Kinda miss the quick lock-unlock tab on top of my N79.

6. Also, what's the easiest way to put the phone in silent mode? Do I have to long-press the power button and then choose silent always?

5. Turning the screen off locks it.

6. Thats the way to do it. There's no toggle switch.

I didn't find any shipper, I just got it off ebay Global for a total of around $30 so I effectively paid around 10-15 bucks for shipping.

The Refresh like button is to toggle Sync on/off.

And I want the Live Wallpaper with out leaves, One of the Galaxy S display pieces in Chroma had that running.

1. Press and hold home button. There is no explicit closing of apps in android unless the app provides an exit button in its UI. BUT, in general, if you want to stop the app, press "back" button as that would destroy the current activity. If you press home, it will just put it to sleep. It doesn't always close the app because the app might have a service running in the background. You can permanently close the app/service by going to application management settings. Also, note that if an app's process is shown as running it doesn't mean the app is running. The process is like a "zombie" here that will be reused if you relaunch the app to make the launching process faster. The process might even be reused for other apps.

2. Yes. 4th button is for overall sync however, not refresh mail, per se. It will enable/disable syncing of whatever accounts you have set for syncing (push and refresh).

3. Depends on the game. Android doesn't have any control over this as this is implemented by game dev.

4. Recently used apps. If you open any new app from the task switcher list, it doesn't "close" the current app but puts it to background, just like it would do if you pressed home button while your current app was running.

Thank you.

5. Power button

6. You can also press the volume down button and it will turn to silent mode once you go past lowest level and if you still keep holding it or press it again, then it will switch to vibration mode. For faster, one tap change, You can either install one of the many audio settings manager widgets or use tasker to create your own widget or map to a gesture/button press/ etc..
