Superfrag
Meh. Tablets suck. CR-48 FTW. I haven't even touched my iPad in the last few days, since I've got the CR-48. Planning to give the iPad away to my parents. But while we're still talking about tablets, there's no way I would get the iPad 1 over the Xoom. iPad can't multitask, games and Safari crashes when the memory limit is reached, it's sluggish all over. It desperately needs better hardware. Some of the games which run perfectly on the iPhone 4 and my Nexus S lags on the iPad. (Dungeon Defenders is one) Even when surfing the web, look at how much faster the Xoom is. Even the battery life is brilliant, and when it comes to these type of tests, Anandtech is the most reliable. Plus, the Xoom can run all Android apps and games, unlike the iPad which runs it in iPhone layout. (Tapatalk Pro :'( ) I'm surprised no one has highlighted this point. I'm expecting 3.1 or 3.0.1 to come out by the summer. (Google I/O) The notifications are 100x times better as well, (Notified Pro doesn't work on the iPad. ) Email is as good as the iPad version which is a good thing, GMail is perfectly sync'ed with colored labels etc, Video Chat doesn't require iOS devices, it can be done with any desktop OS, and I'm sure an update will come out for Google Talk for Android smartphones enabling video chat. Many apps are being Honeycomb optimized, and within a month or two the crashes that reviewers are facing should reduce immensely. ALL THIS BEING SAID, the direct competition is obviously the iPad 2. March 2nd! Another thing to note, Xoom isn't the only 3.0 tablet coming out.. hopefully cheaper tablets running 3.0 comes out. (LG, Samsung, Toshiba etc.) Edited February 25, 2011 by Superfrag
achilles
Yeeeaaa. Stats. That'll show people which one is better. Honestly it's about the experience of using one. The iPad can't do a lot of things the Xoom can but if the touch responsiveness isn't just right, they blew it. Scrolling is still jittery. Oh, and it's plenty fast for me. I don't face the crashes or sluggishness especially but it has become slower than when it was on 3.x. Maybe they could have optimized 4.2 a bit more for it. It does need faster hardware though, specially more RAM. Bold words by Apple on the invite. I don't remember the last time they came out saying something like "come see what 2011 would be the year of" So let's see. Also, tried the HTC HD 7 a couple of days back. Again I don't like the UI too much but the touch response is pretty darn close to perfect. On the other hand, Touchpad demos were sluggish too. And these guys can't match the economies of scale of Apple. Approx. same internals for the iPhone, the iPad & the touch. Again from "apple makes overpriced products" to "how can anyone match that", just like the Mac has no games to iOS has all the games. Well played Apple. Superfrag
Those stats aren't benchmarks or software measuring the power, they're real time benchmarks showing which one works faster. Which is easily discernable. Plus the Xoom browser is much better than the iPad browser. I hope Apple introduces tabbed browsing in iPad 2. Have you used the Xoom? I haven't read on Engadget or Anandtech, anywhere saying that the touch responsiveness isn't good. Another thing to note, broadband/internet is slow in India. Here, on WiFi or 3G, the differences will be easily seen. Especially considering the Xoom will have LTE support. Although, for a current iPad owner, it doesn't make sense upgrading to the Xoom. Neither to the iPad 2, but that remains to be seen. The whole tablet scenario will be MUCH clearer by summer. Economies of scale remains to be seen. Xoom competes directly with the WiFi + 3G 32GB iPad, and the end pricing turns out to be similar.. and this is just the VZW version, EU and WiFi version have yet to be released. Not to mention, the iPhone 4 without contract is still expensive. BTW, people on Android 2.3, check out Cordy, it's a pretty good game!(free)
Death Stryke
^Touch responsiveness is a personal opinion I believe. Its very much tied with scrolling and general animations involved after touching on some icon or whatever. And this is where even Anandtech reports of the choppiness of the browser and scrolling in the OS in general. See, point is simple, you can cram as many features as you like in the device. But you gotta perfect the user experience before you attempt anything else. I am from that school of thought.

Death Stryke
^ In other LOLworthy news, you cant even view the Motorola Xoom website on Xoom itself So much for the hoopla around "flash" Why do these companies releases WIP devices into the market Not to mention that you have to send in your device to Motorola for 6 days to activate the 4G. Oh dear god Why do these guys even bother? Wasn't this supposed to be the "flagship" Honeycomb tablet? Maximus
Revamped Galaxy S out for Rs. 19,499 http://www.techtree.com/India/News/Samsung_to_Launch_I9003_Galaxy_SL_in_India/551-114624-615.html I got Galaxy S for 24000 3 months ago. Thankfully this has worse display, weaker graphics and lesser in built memory. Else, the resale value of my phone would have dropped down much lower in time for the Galaxy S2. Then go the development section. There you'll find rooting guides for your model usually. Your phone's dev section should be here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=765 There's a guide right there called "How to flash a ROM onto your Desire HD [COMPLETE]" Edited February 28, 2011 by Gaurav - Solitaire
