decent game - https://market.android.com/details?id=com.silvertree.cordy

not sure if it's well known or not, just found out about it a couple of days ago.

Cordy, I love Cordy... cute character. Yeah, Superfrag was tweeting about it a month ago and I think it's somewhat well-known. 4.5 stars with almost 5000 ratings and perhaps 100 times as many downloads.

@Superfrag

Hmm, i feel its a bit too chaotic for my liking, but ya, guess it gets the job done for u. Plus some of the design and artwork in some off those app icons look pixelated a bit. Maybe its the screenshot.

Only the 1st screenshot is chaotic/pixelated, cause I made it a 6*4 lockscreen when it's supposed to be 4*4. The TweetDeck Post widget is also cut off since I forced fit it into 3 blocks instead of 4.

Otherwise I think it looks pretty nice, and more importantly functions brilliantly.

My phone was getting a bit laggy on the homescreen (using LauncherPro and earlier ADW Ex) on Modaco's r13 ROM based on 2.3.3. Homescreens would refresh all the time and reload all the widgets, plus trying to zoom out to see all the homescreens arranged on the display was really jerky and slow. :(

So yesterday, I got rid of the battery widget and the SetCPU widget I was using on the homescreen. Then installed MinFreeManager and set it to the Aggressive preset. Now it runs much smoother (fewer refreshes too) and it's the first time since I started changing ROMs frequently that I have that homescreen zoom-out and zoom-in function working smooth as a baby's bottom. Now I'm getting 3-4 hours of extra battery time over my previous set up too, nearly a day of conservative usage. :)

Thinking about changing to NSCollab based on CM7 but waiting to hear about any issues it has as well as the battery life on said rom.

NSCollab has superb battery life as well, so far. Switch ASAP Gaurav, I couldn't be any happier. Don't forget to flash Theme Chooser as well.

Although I read somewhere that the GPS is a bit wonky. If you really want to be sure, go to XDA and go through the last few pages of the NSCollab thread. I can't wait for the next update which is due.

Yeah I'm waiting for them to throw in the CM 7.0.1 GPS fix in the NSCollab rom. Noted the Theme Chooser addition too.

Only problem is I'm really unwell and have a test and a project review over the next few days. I'd much rather be fiddling with the PC and phone but if my folks catch me on the PC they'll banish me from my "command center" for the day until I'm better :P So makes sense to wait for .22 of NS collab to come out with the 7.0.1 7.0.2 (my my 2 updates in a day to fix a bug) update.

Plus I'm really lazy about backing everything up, erasing it, adding all those widgets back again and realigning them on those homescreens

Btw which option on Clockworkmod erases your phone memory / whatever needs to be erased when changing ROMs but without erasing your SD card memory?

CWM never erases your SD Card. The wipe data/factory reset will just wipe the system partitions.

Go go go do it! Doesn't take much time! Just backup using Titanium Backup, (don't forget to backup system stuff like WiFi AP, user dictionary and browser bookmarks) and Nandroid backup, then flash NSCollab + Theme Chooser! :P

I did everything through ROM Manager, downloading as well, I was in the city on 3G so.. :/

Only the widgets need to be added back if you restore the user apps + system data ASAP using Titanium Backup. :P

Whats the best free launcher out there or, you guys would recommend? I have go launcher and I am pretty happy with it. But I am willing to try something new.

Oh BTW.

Michael Dell: Android will surpass iPad as tablet king

Go Launcher seems nice. I prefer LPP due to the Calendar widget and overall smoothness, so far. I use the GMail widget too, from time to time.

Oh and, Nexus S FTW! :P

Just had a video call using gmail on Nexus S. Impressive quality @googlenexus Gingerbread 2.3.4 #io2011

On the other hand, I thought Android 2.4 or 3.1 will be unveiled at IO2011. Only 2.3.4 is disappointing.. makes me think the focus will shift away from Android(smartphone) this time around, towards ChromeOS, maybe Social, and Tablets.

Go Launcher and Launcher Pro Plus as suggested above. Although I prefer GL over LPP.

Yeaaaaaaaah ok then! Love how android blogs are posting Michael Dell's interview and feeling so happy about it as though he's nostradamus. In '98 he was the one who told in an interview that Apple should shut shop and give money back to its investors

LPP is the best, although sometimes when i'm very deep in an application and continuously pressing back to get out, the final animation gets wonky and it feels LPP is restarting itself.

Xoom, btw, the supposed flagship has met a sad demise. Motorola is probably the worst company. Their Atrix has failed and now this. They need to learn to price, design and market better. Like many state, their Superbowl ads were esoteric at best. Majority didn't even understand wtf was going on!

Motorola really needs to make their devices community friendly again. The Droid was a huge success, but since then their phones have been locked down, and the sales have dwindled. Plus, Samsung, HTC have been really solid with their offerings.

Although their Droid phones continue to sell well, I see a LOT of Droid X as well as Droid 2 around, along with the good old Droid.

Another thing that Motorola is failing at, is selling phones outside the US. Other than the mid-range Defy, no other phone has sold well, AT ALL.

Oh and the failure of the Xoom IMO is simply attributed to bad marketing and high price. The Xoom's already faded into obscurity with the much lower priced Eee Pad Transformer and the Galaxy Tab getting all the spotlight.

Moto can take their devices and shove them up where the sun don't shine. Bloody bootloader locking bitches.

Yeah, LauncherPro occasionally restarts but otherwise it's pretty smooth.

@Superfrag

Video gtalk calling :O WANT . Thank God for the Sexus!

But won't it mess stuff up if I restore System apps as well and not just user data?

A question though, isn't Nightly 42 (which I'm assuming NSCollab is based on) a bit older than the current 7.0.2 release or the 7.0 final release? Will it have any bugs like issues with the camera?

Oh BTW Android planning a takeover of the US Army too - http://www.technobuffalo.com/companies/google/android/u-s-army-goes-android/ :panic:

The LPP restarting is a known bug.. hopefully it'll be fixed in the rewrite, whenever that's coming..

Don't backup/restore system apps. Just data. Like Browser Bookmarks, User Dictionary, 2.3 keyboard, WiFi Access Points, and a few others. If you want, I'll list what all system data I always backup.

User apps, obviously back them up fully, along with data.

Nightly 42 is newer than 7.0.0, but older than 7.0.2. Give him sometime to push out the update, 7.0.2 just released. :P

Plus Voodoo version 8 is also out, so he might be waiting for Netarchy to implement that in a newer kernel. Current latest kernel is still on v7.

There are no camera bug issues, my camera's been working perfectly fine. (Stock app and Vignette).

Although, WidgetLocker is acting a little buggy with NSCollab, so I disabled it.
