Having high battery usage by "Android OS" of late. Sometimes even higher than the Display itself. It's hurting battery life, definitely taking a few hours off it.

Anybody have any idea how to keep usage by "android OS" down or what could be causing this?

Usually it means that some app is forcing the CPU to run at high clocks, or is consuming a lot of resources..

Yeah I kinda had that idea, what I want to know is do you have a similar high usage problem on NSCollab? I still can't find what other app is causing this high usage.

Also have you tried the Sabai Dee undervolted kernel with NSCollab? -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=949292

Someone said it would work and it was undervolted for better battery life. SetCPU shouldn't be used apparently. So 1Ghz it is.

Are you on 2.3.3? Many people have reported this issue and 2.3.4 is supposed to have a fix for this. Some folks have also reported that wiping cache (through recovery) may fix this.

Yeah, I'm on 2.3.3 maybe that's part of the issue. However I didn't have this problem with the earlier ROM (r13 Modaco with the Netarchy kernel 1.3.0.2) after tweaking it a bit. It began again once I started using NSCollab.

I'll try a cache wipe.

source : http://thenextweb.com/mobile/2011/05/09/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-pre-orders-eclipse-3-million-units-worldwide/

Samsung has announced it has already secured over 3 million pre-orders of its new Galaxy S II smartphone, over ten times the number of orders it recently said were placed in its home country of South Korea.

Samsung’s figures account for pre-orders made up until the end of the last month but with the device expected to roll out to over 140 mobile operators in 120 countries, pre-orders could continue to boom, or equate into direct sales if the device already available in different regions.

Last week, Samsung’s said that pre-orders of its newest Android smartphone in South Korea had surpassed 120,000 units in just three days, almost tripling sales of its predecessor when it launched in June 2010. It was also estimated that the company had secured 270,000 pre-orders in April, indicating that demand for the device would be mirrored across the world.

The Galaxy S II currently ranks as the fastest smartphone on the market, beating offerings by rival HTC to market. Demand is likely to slow when the HTC Sensation and other dual-core handsets are released, but with its thin profile and light weight, the Galaxy S II should continue to enjoy healthy sales.

Samsung, commenting on its initial orders intends to ensure its handsets remain available, stating:

“There is surging demand for the device from several countries. We will do our best to meet the global demand.”
