Death Stryke
If iTunes gets something out similar (all signs pointing to it) then it would be killer. iTunes is the gold standard for online music and movies. Plus they have a store on phne. That is something thats cool. Still with capped 3G, the whole purpose is lost. When you get new phone, you sync with your computer. Here, you have to sync with the cloud. Both are time consuming. But ya, you can sync a new phone anywhere around the world,

Shantz
This whole cloud streaming is fine and dandy, but in real life usage, on the road, using a 3G network, which in all probability is capped around the world, how will you manage. Even if they compress it, you are looking at a download of around 300 500 MB daily assuming you listen to 50 60 songs. Plus, without a store, I feel it's pointless as you have to still manually upload any song purchased on your system to the cloud. In Amazon, you at least have a store. Google should start a music store too and then it starts making real sense. Buy any new song on phone, immediately playable from the cloud. I find it good since I can use it at work or at friends' places or when vacationing at home/hotels etc..And anyways, row doesn't have to worry as they fare better than us.. regarding itunes, yes it will be killer and google wants to go the same route but couldn't because they haven't been able to sign the deals with labels so far so had to go this route. But still this approach has its own advantages. You can listen to your own music that you have and not necessarily be tied to a store. Lots of people have music they didnt buy online or buy from other places. Also, this way people like me can use the service even when it is US only . Not saying that itunes will not have store approach + own music approach. It might very well have it. But am just saying what we get with google music isn't worthless as well.. It's definitely not worthless. It's a step in the right direction, but just that capped data plans and no online store are two issues I see with it today. Even I'm not saying to be tied to a store, what I feel and I hope Google or even Itunes does is allow us to upload our existing collection online and future you can use the store to buy and upload or go the manual way and upload from your system. Having a store on the device cuts out a few steps from the process. And fairly cheap monthly plans for the same. All these features definitely won't be free. I hope they become worldwide soon. Not everyone has access to a VPN or can spoof IPs. Edited May 11, 2011 by Death Stryke
MarketTantrik
Google should simply tie up with Amazon for music. Amazon already is a far better deal than iTunes.

I had 8gb worth of music on my iPhone NOT A SINGLE one purchased from iTunes. I lost that collection among other things on my iPhone twice when my PC crashed and I was forced to sync with new installation of iTunes. Store(irrelevant for me) or not, iTunes was a major PIA. Amazon cloud player or better yet Google Music is perfect for me. Buy from anywhere, Upload from anywhere and Play from anywhere, Winning. Death Stryke
Way to miss the point and bash Apple as usual  If you didn't buy music from iTunes, then you got it from another source. How else will you get your music? Point is, even if you use Amazon to buy your music, you still have to use the desktop app to upload it to google cloud right from your computer? If Google had their own store, I'd search for the song on the store app on the device, click buy, and immediately it gets added to my library in the cloud and it starts streaming. Seamless. Comprende? Of course the first time i sign up for google music, I'd hve to spend time uploading my entire collection into the cloud once. After that it's going to be what i said above. But now, since there is no store, I have to buy from iTunes or amazon or xyz store, and use a desktop app to upload it. Not as seamless as google's other services. This is every time i buy a song. Is this the best implementation of a cloud music service according to you? Then honestly I don't have anything else to add. Androids USP has been no dependance on a computer for anything. But here, a computer is required as i see it. Amazon is doing what Google should have done. Only with lesser space and not being tied with your google account. avkash
Google planned to do it as well but it just turned out to be a facepalm when the conversation with music labels did not materialize they had to launch something so they did this in the end i think it will become similar to iTunes. I lost that collection among other things on my iPhone twice when my PC crashed and I was forced to sync with new installation of iTunes. Store(irrelevant for me) or not, iTunes was a major PIA. this is think has been the long-standing issue for me (and millions of other as well) it just depends too much on iTunes, at least it finally realized though that the iPhone and iPod are fully capable of creating playlists and at-least passed that feature over Edited May 11, 2011 by avkash

Bird Bird Bird
Still with capped 3G, the whole purpose is lost. Bit OT here : BSNL/MTNL both have true UL plans for 3G (HSDPA). Even I had no idea about them. Just day before yday, my friend got a MTNL 3G kit which includes a 3G SIM with 6 months of UL HSDPA use for 4500. USB Modem charges extra (around 1800/he already had one). Checked in his room and he's getting a consistent speed of 2.5MBPS during daytime & nearly 3.5MBPS during the night. Only issue is the pings are comparatively high. Delhi to Delhi ~ 107ms. But if anyone wants it for downloading then the service is pure WIN. Contemplating myself on taking it as currently paying 2.1k for a 2MBPS line. Only thing holding me back is the lack of Wi-Fi as my lappy's model doesn't support hotspot creation (tried Connectify etc.).
