got it thanks. so it says united states only in the email, but of course that can be bypassed that with a proxy. although i would appreciate it if you could tell me how exactly you get it to work from india.

Personally I just have the Tor Browser bundle installed (Tor + Vidalia + Firefox preconfigured) for all my US registration needs, of course with the appropriate US only exitnodes added. Or use hidemyass.com . But I don't know, since you have the invite shouldn't you be able to sign up now without using a proxy? Did you try the link? I only think I used a proxy when requesting an invite.

yup, used a proxy to sign up. after that i can access it through my normal ip now.

the music manager is being a little flaky though. i've chosen about 500 songs to get uploaded so that is going to take a while. what's the max capacity offered by the service?

also, most importantly, i couldn't download the music app from the market place. even though i was connected through a proxy in the browser, the market has my phone recorded as being in india so it won't let me download it. can someone share the apk of the app please?

edit - ok this is pretty neat... it organizes your music and pulls metadata and even album art automatically.

Hmmm. If Google music only provides storage for mobile streaming (not sure) why don't you guys try Audiogalaxy? Works kick a*s. Really does. Plus you don't have to upload anything.

For audiogalaxy, your remote PC must be switched on and connected to internet. This is a huge downer. (plus this also means that you are actually "uploading" the music anyways). Moreover, it doesn't support linux.

If I had to use such a method, I'd instead use my own daapd server running on my router which I can even tunnel through ssh. (This is what I actually used before google music came out. Now I use google music only on mobile and keep using daap client on desktop)

Because with Google Music Beta I can smuggle tracks across the border once I've taken apart the PC on this side of it :naughty:

@ Shantz. Okay that just went over my head :P

Edit And by uploading I meant you don't have te hassle of uploading a 100 or 500 or 20000 songs which can take some time and can FUP you bad.

Ah. You mean a particular song can be streamed as it's being uploaded? But you still can't choose the song that's..let's say 200th in the queue which has just started.

Or am I clueless?

No, but then it's not designed to stream the stuff you have on your PC like Audiogalaxy. The goal here is to get all the music on the cloud and then listen to it even when your PC is off. You get to select what directories get uploaded (or you can upload your entire iTunes / WMP library) but not what exact songs / what order.

One you have your songs uploaded it's pretty awesome.

Urgent Help required, please.

Is restoring a Nandroid backup as simple as selecting the backup and hitting restore inside CWM recovery? Will it wipe the internal SD card (in my Nexus S) or will it only wipe the "phone memory" part of it and leave the rest of the SD card section with all my files for audio, video and what not alone?

I changed ROMs from NSCollab 1.0.29 (or whatever version 1.0.2x that was) to NSCollab 1.0.37 and it was running really smooth (the kernel was Matr1x 5.5 btw) whole of last night till this morning when I connected it to my PC via USB (didn't mount, just plugged the cable in) and then the boot loop began. The phone boots, asks me to choose the launcher (I have Go launcher EX and the stock launcher) on it and I can't. It just reboots. Tried pulling the battery, didn't work either. Still infinite bootloop. :( Now I'm thinking about restoring to the older ROM's nandroid. Please help.

edit: restored, didn't lose anything. Phone's ok now. Stupid CM 7 7.1 nightly  bootloop

Also, I really wish that Titanium Backup would remember which apps I've frozen somehow when I'm doing a "restore missing apps with data" batch operation. :( restores every damn thing, multiple launchers and messaging apps and mail clients that I've frozen and slows the phone the f**k down.

Which is the best Facebook app in market. The "Facebook for android" app sucks big time.

Btw i find camscanner a real good app to take pics n scan them to Pdf formats on the go. Real nice.

Facebook app sucks on every mobile platform. And the third party apps are usually half baked attempts.
