Recently i upgrade my GT-I9003 to latest froyo firmware using Kies which was recently released by Samsung.

Ever since i upgraded, my handset reboots on its own randomly, it also freezes which surprisingly never ever happened before my upgraded.

I really don't knw what to do, i dont want to root my device as it would void the warranty, which has around 8 months to go.

PLz suggest some solution for this. I am thinking of reverting my handset to previous firmware, how to do it, factory reset ??

Factory reset would wipe all my data, any way to save it, specially all the apps in hv.

:helpsmilie:

User SuperOne Click to root your phone using PC USB connection. And do the right thing, Paa : go to the XDA section for your phone : possibly there are some great custom ROMs (and if you're lucky, maybe even CM7) for the i9003.

Stock ROMs usually suck. Last time I upgraded via Kies, the camera app did FC on me every single time. XDA helped me jump to a custom kernel (overclocked my processor :punk: ). Also, you can find the Facebook page for your phone, someone must have created it. Its a great way to discuss and ask specific queries.

Yesterday i installed some Gameloft games that i got it from my friend. I just navigated to the folders and installed and started playing the full version of these games. Sorry to ask a noob question, Is this how android work, u can install any full version games even when the device is not rooted ? ( coming from an iOS, these things are new for me )

I am using Nexus S ...

yup

Thanks bro :)

I'll do a little more digging before I do that though, coz I'm hearing people crying over freezing and restarting issues after the update in the moto forums.

I find this silly. Why would you want to over clock your phone?

I mean, it's justified for other hardware we use, but in a phone, battery backup will take a direct hit because of this. Android devices don't last very long as it is :|

Over clocking the device can only make it worse, isn't it?

I meant using it in conjunction with GV Callback, a VOIP solution like SipDroid and with calls directed to the sipgate account. Are you sure one can't use it purely over wifi?

Assume I'm directing the callback to my sipgate number and have sipdroid running with the sipgate line set up in sipdroid. Now I use the callback request to place the call to some number and pick up the callback. Shouldn't it then be a purely internet call?

Somebody?

Some of us nerds do OC our phones. Increased smoothness at the cost of an hour of battery life is alright when you are charging once a day anyway. Of course I only do it for the sake of seeing how far I can push it and most of the time I'm running at stock and undervolted to save energy.

That sir was the answer to my question :P

I don't think so.

^^Wildfire is obviously better but POP is comparatively cheaper. No comparisons here. I would suggest galaxy FIT in this range though but if you already made your mind then Wildfire without a doubt. Optimus one is decent choice too.

EDIT: I would suggest to increase your budget to atleast 15k and get ACE/Defy. A lower-end android phone isn't really a good idea. If you can't increase your budget then wait. Patience can increase your budget :P

So how do I update my phone to the latest version of Android? I am on 2.2.1 and from what I understand the newest one is 2.3.4. But whenever I check for updates from my phone it inevitably shows me connection failed. Can it only be done manually? If so how?

On Samsung galaxy SL i9003.

Do you have Kies on you PC/Laptop? Download it, Connect your phone to it...if as you say 2.3.4 is the latest android ver for your phone then Kies will show you an update for the same on the home screen...otherwise 2.3.4 isn't for your phone (also the 'country' parameter comes into picture i guess)

EDIT:

Ok i just checked a few things DONOT update your phone to 2.3.4 if kies doesn't show it...it give a hell lotta problems with:

Camera

Wifi Connectivity

Games/Apps downloaded from the Market

Ok Samsung Kies is one piece of sh*t software, can't even install drivers required for connectivity.

Its been almost 3 weeks I am struggling to connect S2 to winxp and vista laps, it always gives me CDC driver error or Samsung_android driver error, I couldn't locate these drivers anywhere on internet.

Thousands of people have the problem with the driver installation and after trying almost everything I could find on internetz, SIMPLY NOTHING WORKS!

Why google hasn't created a unified driver or something like iTunes by themselves?
