Chaztin
There you go: http://www.google.co...0mac&gsc.page=1 EDIT: But i think most of the threads here are only for the Galaxy phones. Thanks for the help. Its much better and easier to get it done on PC I guess.
Sapola
iOS Launcher on Android. This is probably the best port I've seen for android. ya looks quite good. I recommend Magic Locker, for those who like iphone lock screen, only problem is that it runs as an app not a process.
Shantz
ya looks quite good. I recommend Magic Locker, for those who like iphone lock screen, only problem is that it runs as an app not a process. I guess you mean it runs as an activity, not a service (An app cannot run without a process). But it needs to. A service cannot provide a user interface, only an activity can. BTW, if it was coded by any dev of reasonable intellect, then it must have a background service or a broadcast receiver as well to restart the activity in case the activity is killed (since it can go into the low priority/LRU domain if the phone is kept unlocked and in use for a long time). Once it is in foreground, that is actually locking the device, then anyways the chances of it being killed are very minute..
Sapola
^ you are right, i meant activity and yes it should have a background service.
lastAvenger
So the official MIUI port from the MIUIAndroid team is now available for SGS2... http://miuiandroid.c...velopment-roms/ Has anyone tried it? Won't recommend it as its buggy. Video camera doesn't work and a 3rd party app needs to be used. CM7 is also quite buggy. It has issues with BT and Camera again. Jigsaw
The gf wants a big screen smartphone for movies , games and browsing. I'm suggesting android cos she doesn't want to spend more than 20-23k. What do you guys suggest? Galaxy S Plus ? The one with the 1.4Ghz proccy or anything better in that range?? If I had my way I'd make her get the SGS2. But she won't spend that much. We'll be buying from Alfa so anyone knows how much the SGS2 has come down to now in Alfa??? Big Boss
There is an uncontrollable urge coming from within me to buy an Android handset, mainly with a huge screen. How are the Android browsers? Do they crash a lot? Do they support major sites?

How are the Android browsers? Do they crash a lot? Do they support major sites? Android browsers? They are great, just like the desktop ones. No, they don't crash and they have flash! They support all sites! What phone have you been using?
Big Boss
I am using N82 (hacked). The screen size is gettin on my nerves. I am leaning towards Nexus S, main draw being its 4 inch screen and upgradability to Android without wait. Else the best phone is Galaxy S2, right? Or are the Sony phones good? Here are my preferences in order of importance: Large Screen Upgradable OS without any wait or minimum wait 8 MP cam.

Either get the Galaxy S2 (in which case you pay more, get a really new model with a new cam but not always the latest OS) or the Nexus S (not quite the latest phone, it's been out almost a year, but it will be the first phone after the Galaxy Nexus to get ICS). Jigsaw
I am using N82 (hacked). I every time a Symbian S60 user with a Jurassic-age device says that. No offence meant... Just goofing. Not that rooting or jb'ing phones is rocket-science... But really? Getting a cert to be able to install "unsigned" apps = hack IMHO I'd suggest the SGSII. If you have to get an android like NOW, this is it. The latest KI4 2.3.5 rom with anti-aliasing is Get it bro... You won't regret it one bit
Mizanurification
^^ Rooting doesnt always mean installing "unsigned" apps. Dont forget about custom themes, ROMS and tweaking the OS. Edited October 25, 2011 by Mizanurification
