Big Boss
that is the one you get in India. Nooo we get I9100 as well. I9100G sucks compared to I9100
KWC
what the hell is i9100g?
k@rt!K
samsung galaxy s2 in two forms: Basically both the I9100 and I9100G have the identical features as claimed by Samsung but the only thing that differentiate both is the processor and GPU that the unit run. I9100 run on 1.2GHz ARM CortexA9 Exynos 4210 and ARM Mali-400 GPU while I9100G uses Texas Instruments OMAP4430 CPU and PowerVR SGX540 GPU. source: I9100 VS I9100G
Big Boss
Yeah, it has better battery life, more RAM and less heat generated compared to I9100, but way weaker GPU. The Mali-400 in I9100 rapes it And forget about the different changes, my MAIN WORRY is that there are ONLY 2 custom ROMS for I9100G and I fear that it wont even get ICS update from Samsung. k@rt!K
I replaced my s2(I19100) with I19100g( nov 2011: maf date) a week ago because of faulty screen and bad bettery life. Till now happy with it (not rooted obviously).
Irredeemable
Thinking whether I should root and install a custom rom on my desire HD... Any links which take you step by step? I don't know much about rooting since this is my first android..
Big Boss
Oh yeah that yellow tint problem is also not there in I9100G. But still no ROMs and weak GPU. You cant enable 4xAA and 16xAF in Chainfire 3D as well. But I can live with all this IF Samsung releases ICS for 'G' version and doesn't ignore it. Can anyone confirm whether all new S2s in India are I9100G and I9100 is stopped? That would be a sigh of relief. @kartik, which Gingerbread version do you have in it? Mine is manufactured in Oct 2011 and has GB 2.3.4.

Big Boss
Ok, I9100G owners, DO NOT TRY TO ROOT. I was about to root my cell this weekend, thankfully my lazyness prevailed, else I would have bricked my phone. All good ROMs are there for I9100. avkash
why do you always act like the whiny little kid, I mean relax I have 'G' as well and you're acting like the GPU will hinder your day-to-day use very heavily, also you could have checked the box before buying. I think that to a normal user the battery life and lesser heat will be a lot more useful than a better GPU. In fact the battery life on my phone is already so bad. Also regarding ICS, Samsung has said that it will come to the "WHOLE Galaxy S2 FAMILY". It has way too many variants, almost a different one for each carrier in all the countries. Because i paid the same amount and got an inferior version. And with 2.3.5, battery and heating problems are gone in I9100.
LagWarriorZergey
Samsung Note is one awesome phone. I love that screen.. My recently bought it and I played around with it.. It is big and fantastic.. I bet it is! J/K
Death Stryke
How do u even track all these version changes. Dont think they explicitly mention it on the box. But they do mention exynos n sh*t on the box right? Was it on the box for the 9100G as well?
Big Boss
Was it on the box for the 9100G as well? Nope. Its mentioned I9100G only. No other details. The I9100 whoops its a*s in benchmarks. I spent 28k to get the most powerful cell in that price, not some watered down variant for sissy things like battery life and less heat, AND AT THE SAME COST. Not one penny less. I mean the GPU is same as Galaxy S. When ICS launches, it will be able to utilize all Mali 400 efficiently. I am so pissed off. I should have researched more. All those benchmarks touting Galaxy S2 as the beast are for I9100. The G variant is not even featured. That battery life can go to hell. 2.3.5 gives even better battery than G variant, and pretty sure ICS will give even more. Samsung atleast launched different versions like Galaxy R, Galaxy W, Galaxy S Plus etc to make us aware that the phones are differently specced, but in this case they added a tame little G and sold it same price. I have read a lot on Malasian forums, lolyat forums, xda forums, techenclave, few blogs, everyone is saying to avoid I9100G if possible. On ebay, Flipkart and even Sulekha is giving I9100 and not G. Superfrag
This is the 1st I've heard of this variant. The OMAP4430 is a decent chip, but yeah, not as good as the OMAP 4460 or the Exynos 4210.
Big Boss
WTF just checked my box. It has I9100. No mention of f**king G. This is cheating.
Shantz
WTF just checked my box. It has I9100. No mention of f**king G. This is cheating. Take it to samsung service center and ask them to replace.. Also call sulekha and haggle them..
Death Stryke
Its weird how Samsung does this. But then again, most people wouldn't even know or bother to know what processor is under the. At the end of the day, there has to be a good reason why they used this SoC
