avkash
mine says this too - ARMv7 -- GPU -- PowerVR SGX540 now that ambar has brought this up, I realize that the in browser flash videos do not work as well as advertised in various reviews, in fact the browser crashes very frequently whenever I try to do that. This is not good then. sorry Ambar, I apologize for my earlier response, I think you are right and we have every right to get what we paid for, let me go to a Samsung store and scare the sh*t out of them. Also the NFC chip was already scrapped on the Indian models, and now this. Not cool, not at all. Damn, this is not done. Right
^ ARM 7 is the processor, that will be same for all. - Install the app which MT has suggested - Go to settings and enable OpenGL infos - On system tab, expand openGL - Renderer should be Mali-400 MP for non-G variants. avkash
that is what I said, the renderer (GPU) is PowerVR SGX540
Big Boss
now that ambar has brought this up, I realize that the in browser flash videos do not work as well as advertised in various reviews, in fact the browser crashes very frequently whenever I try to do that. This is not good then. Well this can be fixed by using 10.2 version of Adobe and not updating it to 11.0. Have you updated it? sorry Ambar, I apologize for my earlier response, I think you are right and we have every right to get what we paid for, let me go to a Samsung store and scare the sh*t out of them. Let me know their response. Motherf**kers should be dealt with. What does your box say? I9100G or I9100?
Right
Ah ok. Well, this is a f**k-up. http://www.jayceooi.com/2011/10/03/new-samsung-galaxy-s-ii-gt-i9100g-in-malaysia-alert/ However, the PowerVR SGX540 (which was used in previous generation Galaxy S) is much slower than ARM Mali-400. And can’t enable Anti-Aliasing (4xAA and 16xAA) with Chainfire3D Pro. So basically you have GPU from SGS. Duh.
Big Boss
^Yeah. Been reading about these sites all day. One dude even posted on XDA about I9100G CPU being better than I9100. Sad guy, got hammered by everyone and thread was locked.

The specs of the 9100G are very similar to the Galaxy Nexus (apart from the screen resolution). I think it'll get ICS ports before the Exynos powered 9100. Big Boss
I am also thinking about it. The PowerVR SGX540 is much more mainstream than Mali 400. Its present in LG Optimus 3D, Galaxy Nexus and few other top end phones. Mali 400 is only in Galaxy S2 AFAIK. Let me do more research on this. Also, I managed to run Asphalt 6 made for Galaxy S on my phone without any problems. The I9100 requires a special Asphalt 6 from Samsung Apps. I think it'll get ICS ports before the Exynos powered 9100. Exynos powered i91000 already has ICS ports. Most of the stuff working that too. i9100G might have similar specs to the Galaxy Nexus, but it means squat if there are no developers willing to support it/supporting it. KWC
no the s2 with the mali does not require a special asphalt 6. the one from samsung apps was free because of the WCG.
avkash
well, mine runs the Asaphalt 6 and all other HD games by Gamploft like a charm. I have tried almost all of them. I love the Spiderman one. that is not the problem though, the issue is that the phone may not get official updates from Samsung and a lot of the custom firmwares will not care to put in a version for this phone, that is real bad Also I went to the store and amicably told them what the issue was, I got a new box from them and showed them that the print on the side says I900 but showed them that my phone says model I900G I had them call the Samsung guys who they deal with and he has said that they will find out the cause for this and get back by evening, I asked the store guy and he said that in case of a replacement, Samsung will issue a note to the store and then I can get my phone replaced from the store itself. No waiting period. The issue though is that even if they do agree to replace my model, they may not have the I900 at all, in fact they will not be able to find out about the model unless they open it up and power it on as all the boxes say I900. I do not think they will be going that far for me. Then what do I do. The Note is seeming very enticing right now to me, I may pay the difference and get it I am really so happy that I decided to buy this from a brick and mortar store and not online, that would have sucked big time. Sometimes the older ways are the better ways. Also I went to a nearby e-zone and tested the S2 on display, it said I900, to confirm I downloaded the app on that and the GPU said Mali-400. But that has been there since 6-7 months so maybe that time they did sell those ones. It is the stock after October that seems to be affected. Big Boss
Repped for the info. I will also do that. I will ask them to acquire older stock if possible.
