I found one more guy with same I9100G on Samsung community. Let me get in touch with him.

I think a lot of people have it, they just don't know it, like we did not

@supersim: dude you can buy it, just get the older stock.

I doubt the older stock will be available anywhere. the S2 is flying off shelves, but they do dindoraa peetna of the Exynos all the time in the tv ads.

Check this flipkart listing. They mention "1.2 ghz arm 9 processor" but no mention whether its exynos or omap. both are based on arm 9 so samsung has played it safely here.

Although the GPU mentioned is mali-400 which I think is a mistake on Flipkart's part

yeah they did everything to NOT tell the buyer that the CPU is different, they made it really dubious

but they have printed I900 on the box, that will take them down

I will really sue them if they do not take a satisfactory action, consumer courts work much faster than the normal court.

I remember the older SGS2 boxes had that spelling mistake "SAMOLDED" :P. Those ones mentioned exynos on the box. Exynos was such a buzzword when it launched. Even in the press conference they talked about it. Now they've nicely hushed it but doubt you can do anything about it. I dont know

Ok, for those potential S2 buyers, check the product code on the box. If its I9100LKGINU, its I9100G. A user told me on TE, I observed the same on Samsung site today morning, but was waiting for me to check it myself when I go home.

^^ you're going to sue Samsung for not having the ability to install custom roms???

:roflroll:

Good luck.

err no, you did not get get it, like almost always

if the box says I900 then the product inside should be I9000 and not I9000G. Now do you get it tiger.

it is clearly an illegal thing.

i liked the joke

I think a lot of people who have bought it recently would have 'G'.

lets scroll back on the WYBTW thread to track, I can remember Megs, but I really do not think she would know or care about this, just a general assumption as she is a girl.

Also, after my day long research, following is the summary of differences between I9100G and I9100:

1. I9100G is having slower, much slower GPU. The GPU is same as Galaxy S, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S, Motorola Razr, LG Optimus 3D.

2. I9100G is having CPU of 1008 Mhz locked frequency as compared to 1.2 Ghz of I9100. This is evident from the benchmarks and spec sheet on Texas Instruments site. The 1.2 Ghz is barely touched under maximum stress. Though users have reported that 1.2Ghz is available in 2.3.5 official Samsung update.

3. The battery life and heating is better in I9100G compared to 2.3.3 I9100. The 2.3.5 update improves battery life even more in both handsets, but its assumed that battery life difference will remain.

4. The I9100G in India connects to Samsung servers via Wifi/3G to check for update OTA. The I9100, gives an unable to connect to server error.

5. The I9100 might have the infamous yellow tint issue (my friend's S2 has it, and its bothering him), but I9100G does not have it.

6. There are ton of I9100 Custom ROMS available, with many better features, whereas there are in total 2 custom ROMs for I9100G, that too by newbies.

7. There is NO GURANTEE that Samsung will release ICS for I9100G, thanks to its target market being Asia Pacific.
