Django bro, just be careful with the steps you follow, latest ICS leaks are bricking devices or screwing up internal storage partition table : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633943 . I'm using Stunner ROM, so far it is stable and smooth. Will await official ROM release (from any part of the world ) , until then S-Pen is just a stylus. avkash
so here are two cents from Eldar Murtazin on pentile, I mostly agree with him To my mind PenTile is a good example how fobias are born. If you can see subpixels feel free to buy phones, which have more of them. I can only envy that you see the world differently from the majority of people. A word of caution though - modern day TVs have comparable or even lower screen resolution that that of Galaxy S 3. People who can spot PenTile must suffer every time they switch on TV. The placebo effect is as strong in the world of technology as in other areas of life. source and to the people who think that AMOLED < LCD 2 take a look at this picture below the flowers in the middle tell all the story, the loss of detail due to lower contrast on the LCD is pretty evident in almost all the flowerss
achilles
Alrite. If you watch TV from the distance you hold a phone, you'd not like what you're watching. At all. The distance makes all the difference. Many laptops are near 85-90% or even higher than retina resolution because of the distance of view. So that post is bullshit. Also if you think you can judge a display by viewing it on another display, well I don't have anything to add to that. It's almost as ridiculous as trying to see the difference in pickups of two cars by judging the pickup of the truck they're kept on.
avkash
lol, haters gonna hate. I have nothing against any tech, I prefer the contrast ratio where black is not actually grey, that's just me but the fact that engadget required a microscope to actually find out whether the display is pentile or not speaks a lot for itself. the post is more directed toward the fact that pentile is practically indistinguishable also for the display on display thing, both lcd and amoled are on my/your screen, the SAME screen, I see no way why one has an advantage, in your lingo this comparison is of cars on road, both the cars are on the same road, not a problem as I see it
piper
Pen tile on N1 is easily visible. On the Note it is more difficult to spot. Higher dpi displays can go with Pen tile, it is virtually indistinguishable at normal handheld viewing distances. And Samsung recently mentioned Pen tile displays last longer. Hence the use of such a unit in the S3.
achilles
Last longer? What is the life of a normal AMOLED screen, non pentile? 10 years? So that life thing is a crock of PR sh*t. Anyway, sub pixelation the only issue with pentile? I thought the color reproduction was affected too. Either way, I prefer LCD much more over AMOLED, pentile or not. The LCD is just much more pleasing to my eyes.
