Still Android vs iOS going on here?

At least I dont need separate apps to view and send email attachments on Android. It would have been a PITA to use iPhone as email client while doing job search when you dont have access to personal mail accounts on office network.

+1 its about personal preferences guys. I need widgets on my phone. So that i can have all my birthdays on the home screen. I need WiFi direct transfer. I need a huge screen and expandable memory. I need the level of inter app communication that android provides. And i don't give a rats behind if I have to perform some maintenance on my phone once in 6 months for that. And to tell you the truth that's not required either. I haven't had a single lag issue on my s2 after ics. So please use your system of choice and be happy :)

if the iOS vs Android debate is over, Can I please get someone to help me get the S3 work Smooth? Or else eBay is where it's headed! Will just wait for MWC for something, hopefully from Sony? Or maybe just try Windows 8! (Nokia 920 is interesting)

Why not try the repair centre once? Personally I know many s3 owners but I don't see them having this issue. Repair centre guys always have the most latest and stable official build. You can give it a try..

Arrey spend some time and learn to root it man. Samsung stock Roms are a POS, everyone knows that. Trust me, on CM10 the S3 is as fast and smooth as any other phone out there. Yes, includuing IOS phones.

Btw if you can work a PC or laptop to use this forum to post, then you can definitely root. Start with the link I gave juggernaut in the previous page.

And what Android version are you on?

Don't buy 920. It seems it's as heavy as the old Nokia Communicator.

Now that was a comment uncalled for.

Just because you are too weak to lift a 150gm device does not mean it is heavy.

Yup, every S3 I have seen lags slightly on stock. Just root and install a smooth ROM. Samsung just sucks at making stock ROMs when it comes to performance. Functionality wise they are great.

For S2, I switched to JellyBam from cMIUI a month ago. Now on 3.1.0 version. Absolutely the best ROM for S2. Very smooth, great battery life and not a single bug so far.

Hey, just reporting what I read.

The Nokia Lumia 920 weighs 185g, which is about the weight of a Nokia communicator - if anyone remembers those. Don't get us wrong, we are all for the great build and solid feel but the Nokia flagship is heavier than a Galaxy Note II, which comes with a 5.5" screen, a 3100 mAh battery and the S Pen tucked inside.

The point is, we had phones like these --> Nokia 3310, they were like little bricks and under duress be wielded as one.

We did not get a fetish for 'light' and 'slim' devices until a certain California based company decided it wanted to make the most anorexic and fragile mobile device around and other companies had no choice but to follow suit.

Just stating the facts and don't want to devolve the thread into a mindless morass of Android vs. iOS vs. Windows Phone (design sensibilities inclusive).

what is the point of a post like this? we also used to have computers that were the size of a room and phones that had a wire connecting it to the wall. and that was in the past. 185g is heavy for a phone today, period.

that being said, i wouldn't avoid the lumia 920 for it's weight. i would however avoid it because it's expected to cost 45k or so.

as for lagging, i can honestly say i've never seen any android device lag. maybe it's a matter of defining what lag is... my nexus 7 on stock android is very noticeably snappier and more responsive than my other devices, so in comparison to that you could say that the others 'lag'? i'd say that there has to be a noticeable, persistent delay during operations for me to call something laggy, and i just haven't seen it. not even with a stock touchwiz device loaded with all kinds of apps.

Maybe the definition of weight also needs to be altered in line with your perceived definition of 'lag'.

Agree that the price of the phone will make it a non-seller in India.

On the same account of lag, I have never noticed my SONY XPERIA go to stutter although I do concede in Fruit Ninja it does and screen-tear is rife in certain applications.

My S2 lags, like hell. I have noticeable lag like the one you have mentioned. It did not use to have it earlier. After the 4.0 upgrade it has begun lagging. official update from Samsung. This is what makes me sad. Actually mad. Official updates are supposed to make phones better. Not worse. I can get custom ROMS and improve performance. but that is not the point. I should be given official ROMs that work great. That is what defines good after sales to me. I can get custom ROMs and do sh*t. But will my dad do it, will my mom do it. In fact not only them but a large number from the young crowd are neither so technically proficient nor interested in doing this.

Android as an OS begins to lag over time. I don't have any proof per say for it. But I have seen devices begin to lag. Only after time. Devices from my friends, colleagues, my wife. They start out well but then over time somehow begin to lag. These people do not even use the device extensively. So usage is not a problem. The issue is that Google not unlike MS (Windows desktop) has not worried about optimizing the OS. Google is banking on evolution of the hardware as a means to counter the high hardware requirements of the OS. But sadly that has not solved the issue. Not yet at least. MS has learned from it and is optimizing the Windows phone OS to extreme limits. Ask Shantz if you do not believe me. The Windows phone OS runs buttery smooth on mediocre hardware that Android sucks on. It is a fact. Undeniable. Google should work towards it as well. I love Android as an OS. It has some very nice features that iOS and Windows phone do not. But what will I do with them if I can't use them easily. It irritates me and a lot of people I know are shifting to Windows Phone just for the same reason. Not everybody needs 500 million apps. As long as I have the ones I need, I am OK. And most people do not even bother to use more than 50 or so apps from the market. Apps will not win the OS war in the long run. A good, stable, smooth and long supported OS will. I do not see Google doing that for me. And I am sad due to it.

well said avi :)

and yes some pple like me are lazy who dont feel like modding/customising ROMs, just cuz of hectic daily routine life and makes no use keep trying modded again and again, it just very irritating,

money can no issue for many user looking for a smartphones, but getting something that never lags/switched off/on/hangs/ etc, that worths spending money.4

i changed from X10 to samsung Note to Xperia U to Karbonn A21 but i really feel pissed off in all these 3 years :( cuz problem is still there.
