AtheK
another shoot in foot by Sony, a lot of people in my friend list wanted to buy the phone, but entire excitement has fizzed out now. Poor viewing angles and bad speaker has been highlighted universally now, on top of that other flagships are out which are beating the performance score. Sony is now left with Waterproof as the only advantage. Why does Sony do this, i missed out on Xperia S because of the lazy attitude of sony India and now Sony Z remains a big question mark.It is funny why Sony India Mobile division does not even want to talk about it, what do they mean by closed audience disclose, this is not a new launch. no wonder Sony has such a low share of phone in India. The price point looks like a decent proposition and all Full HD phones will be around 38-40k mark.
sameuun
me was so eager to buy this phone day one but it seems i cant make decision just by looks and hypes, that will be very disappointing if that fails like sony other model

TRMNTR
The phone is actually for a friend. I don't think he'll go for a red one. I'll try Gaffar -- I've heard good things about Vaishno Electronics.

spindoctor
Sony is now left with Waterproof as the only advantage. I don't understand this feature at all. Do people take calls in the shower or while they're deep sea diving? Do they regularly find themselves in situations where it's raining, they have no umbrella, there's no shelter around and they simply must take an incoming call while getting wet? The S3 for 28 is a far better deal than this. I expect the S4 will come in at around the same price (45k) and will obliterate this one in performance and sales. S3 is a gen old phone now, obviously it will be cheaper and no it is not a good deal then this, Slower processor, less Ram, Bad build Quality and Lesser screen. Waterproof is just a nice feature to have for people who drive a lot on bike. Of course S4 will be the best phone in performance, Xperia Z is not even on Krait 600. But samsung build quality and premium feel is a question mark, if they keep the same design as S3, well i am not buying it, but obviously it will sell huge numbers. Ram Dante
Waterproof feature is something I will love on phones, since I ride most of the time. Also based on user comments, the Z's screen isn't bad at all, it delivers pretty good colors unlike the over saturated Amoled screens(Unless you love that). The speakers are as good as any Xperia phone currently on the market. So, I don't think that can be a negative pt at all.
AtheK
I wanted to pre order but the comments have made me wait and see, i will see a piece and then decide, seems the speakers are where it is very low. Also you are right about SAMOLED vs LCD, it is absolutely personal preference. I prefer the soothing colors of LCD where in a lot of people like SAMOLED. Good for you, the above statement makes a lot of sense in a non tech forum or a fan boy war, not sure if it makes much sense here. Speakers are definitely not the loudest but they sound pleasing, no cracking and breaking of sharp sounds and overall better sound quality than most decent 'loud' systems. This is my personal experience with all XPERIA handsets. Also based on user comments, the Z's screen isn't bad at all, it delivers pretty good colors unlike the over saturated Amoled screens(Unless you love that). I am happy with my go's screen. Sure it is not the brightest or the biggest or the sharpest but it does what it is supposed to do fine and thanks to BRAVIA engine pictures and videos (up-to 720p) look vivid. Though most people I have met and interacted with have shown bias towards the S-AMOLED screens because head to head the latter seems to display more vivid colours than LCD / Super LCD. About viewing angles, I don't want people standing around me to stare at my measly 3.5" screen so no comments. Some would prefer wide viewing angles I am not one of them. ALPHA17
Did you try it.. Nope, but have used most XPERIA handsets (upto T) and almost everyone says the sound is puny but it is acceptable unless you are the types who uses his phone like a boombox to disturb everyone. Only issue is that you might miss the ringtone in areas with heavy background noise (on moderate sound levels). If you want to know someone who has personal experience I will enquire around in other forums, Sire. Cheers!

AtheK
viewing angle is not a concern, contrast is. Ya best is to let the phone release, don't remember a Sony phone generating so much buzz before
