I have somewhat made up my mind buying the SGS....

but is it necessary to root it...won't it void the warranty ?....that too it being brand new ..

Its not necessary. I haven't rooted mine and is never going to.

Rooting will give you an enhanced experience.

Don't worry about the warranty.Sammy needn't know that you've rooted your phone.Someone over at XDA has backed up the stock Indian firmware.

All SGS users,

follow the instructions here to recalibrate your phone's battery meter after repeated flashing

Cool,will do this right away.

I've been having some trouble changing wallpapers.Even when I use images of the display's resolution, for some strange reason the phone asks me to crop the image. :(

oh ok

:suicide:

See, first yu need to figure out an uber-cool wallpaper, then comes the part to find an icon-pack which can compliment that wallpaper... Once yu know the icon-pack, pinpointing perfectly suitable icons & the task of resizing them to fit perfectly! :wallbash:

When yu are through with all this, the task of finding suitable widgets (mainly the clock and a couple of more for yur side-screens)... So, making a perfect Home-screen is indeed, :suicide:

sad news on the spica front :(

I went through the review of the wildfire , there were 2 shortcomings the screen and the processor. Else it would have been a great phone.

Has the pricing been anounced yet ? It will be value for money if it has a decent pricing here.

PS - they are calling it the mini desire :panic:

Here s the review

u know thats a good thing for some casual people who are looking at a middle level budget phone, its rightly a mini desire at the expense of the processor and screen which for some people might not be that big an issue.

i'm planning to get the wildfire for my wife as someone here recommeded it and i think its a good phone

Be sure that yur wife can handle Android... I mean, females around my phone go all chaotic... And, a tag-line that i get to hear from them every f**ckin' time is, "That's why i use Nokia!"... WTF?!!
