hmmm......september :( i was expecting a May launch.......looks like i will be waiting eagerly.....any words on official specs :)

it will come by mid Oct, spec wise it will be similar to S4 with few S/w tweaks and stylus tweak thrown in. I think 5.5 is in itself pushing the boundary, they would probably wan to to retain the same size. If you do not want to wait, i suggest get S4 in may.

Congrats, Athek! Great buy man! The pearly back is just... Now, don't be a 'lil girl -- just drop it in the sink and click some pics, will ya? You can always get it replaced if anything happens.

Thanks, water test in few weeks, it is too new for me to start experimenting, it is in those phase where you make sure you keep them nicelt, ruk 2 week uske baad would be throwing it around :P

Also the sony software is very good, it actually picked up the iphone backup on mac and extracted all information(messages, contacts, pics, bookmarks) and transferred it to the phone. HTC is making such a hue and cry for this S?W enhancement in One and Z already has it. Not sure why sony does not market all this.

So its much faster than HTC oneX :O

Yes it is, the snapdragon seems to be doing a much better job then Tegra. It overall feels much more smooother, and all this on stock rom. Once i get custom rom in, it should perform much better(though that will just mean more numbers in benchmark), real life experience is anyway the best android can provide(you obviously have to over look the inherent flaws in the OS itself)

Once you unlock the boot loader, the DRM keys will be lost forever and the SONY apps would work with reduced functionality. Remain on the Sony ROM unless you really want something that is in that custom ROM. Maybe unlock it after getting bored with it.

True no plan to root it for couple of months, for now there is nothing that stock can't do. I can wait for some other rooting stuff, as i am just out of abusing the one X, so i can wait out few months.

Root many Android has you covered there --> XDA thread.

Thanks will check.

The screen calibration thing was added as an update to the ZL by sony?

No it came with the rom, not sure why they skipped it for Z. Above is ported to Z, guess they will provide it as an update for Z

Can anyone suggest a few good android options in the 12-15k range? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2

  • SONY XPERIA Sola
  • SONY XPERIA U (if you can live without expandable memory)

Both will not get the Jelly Bean upgrade.

Micromax canvas 2 and xolo x1000 or a1000, don't remember correctly.

Does xolo have any rooting support?

As far as I know there is healthy developer community for the Sola.

CyanogenMOD has been ported and there are a bevy of other ROM's available, some from India too. All this and more @XDA.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!

Oh I know sola does.. I was asking for xolo.. Since it won't receive any official updates I guess.. Same is the issue with micromax phones too right? No dev support in case no official updates come out
