After arguing 15 minutes with the service centre guy, he took it for servicing. Apparently no service for Z in India, will get a new replacement piece in 2 days. Now the fun is when he asked for bill, i had a bill from Univercell, and they will not accept it as it was a hand written bill and they need a printed bill. Had to call the store and have him print a bill and send a scanned copy to me, what an ordeal. Anyone buying new phones, make sure you get a printed bill. Suddenly out of nowhere the screen and keypad (which is in the black color layout) turned brown with red tint, something like the color of Rust. It did not happen in front of me, as in i didnt see the transformation. I used it, then locked the screen and tended to business elsewhere and 2-3 mins later when i unlocked the phone with a screen swipe i saw it. the phone was normal before that. It worked fine apart from the the rust colored appearance. It had not been dropped anywhere. I tinkered with display options but nothing helped. Then i turned the phone off and did a restart and everything went back to normal. It is ok as of now. question- 1. Is this occurrence a cause for worry ? or is it a random, normally harmless glitch. 2. Do i have a defective piece ? It is less than 2 weeks old. I wouldn't worry much if I were you..Looks to me like a rare software glitch. Maybe a bug in that code. 4.2.2 may not be stable yet. If youre ok with it, move back to 4.2.1 and use the phone for a few days to see if it reoccurs. His company has asked him to select an android phone for about 20k (can stretch the budget slightly to 22k) which they will provide him. Google Nexus is not an option. He is ok with all brands like Sony/Samsung/HTC but not Micromaxx/Karbon. Phone usage will be mainly Mails/social networking however the phone should be capable of running android games. I would pick the XPERIA SP, I have universal disdain for SAMSUNG handsets because of their build quality and screen sizes which I feel would see to the next evolution of human hands. Thanks for your suggestions though....really appreciate it. I am kind of surprised that there are not many choices for phones around 20k.
