Potential Nexus 5 FCC Approval Reappears - LG-D820 (Update: Snapdragon 800, Android 4.4)

....

....

It's too early to know for sure if this is the real deal or not, but both rumblings that I've heard and external factors are starting to point in this direction, and inclusion of both AOSP, MSM8974, and Key Lime Pie (now KitKat) references make it hard to refute. S4GRU (Sprint 4G Rollout Updates) was one of the sites tracking LG-D820 on its forums for some time, I've been paying close attention to that situation as well since I heard about that device model and saw the band combinations onboard. Recent attention just intensifies suspicions. The inclusion of LTE in the next Nexus smartphone is an obvious and welcome upgrade, and Google has been indeed pushing for more impressive banding in its devices, which we saw through the Nexus 7 (3G/4G LTE) band combination.

I do not think that Nexus 5 will be priced on similar lines as Nexus 4 if it does come with 800, google will piss of samsung and to some extent HTC as the google play edition is way expensive.

Then it won't sell (in US).

Nexus 4 sold because it was cheap in price but great hardware and ofcourse timely updates. Android progression has been slow after 4.1, nothing major is coming up, all 4.2 had was project butter.

All flagship are coming with 4.2 or 4.3, i will love to see what they do with 4.4, either a complete overhaul in looks like iOS7, or again under the hood changes.

As of today i do not even care if i dont have 4.3, USP of nexus will have to be price.

Android doesn't need an overhaul yet. iOS needed it because it was using almost similar looks for almost 5-6 years now. The biggest changes should be under the hood. I think google is very consciously trying to avoid fragmentation as well as the perception of fragmentation.

Is there any way to create an 'or' condition to trigger an event?

Like, I have a task to put my phone on Silent when I connect to WiFi at work, based on the SSID. The problem is, I also have the (HTC One) Power Saver Mode On, which turns off WiFi after several minutes of inactivity. So, after this inactivity, my phone turns off WiFi and Tasker thinks I've left work already and turns off the Silent Mode. It only connects back to WiFi when I turn On my screen.

I'm thinking, is there a way to have an 'or' condition with something like "If SSID matches, or if the phone is within range of these cell towers, then put phone in Silent mode". I guess I could just use the cell towers to determine if I'm at work, and forget about the SSID, but I've heard that's quite unreliable. :fear:

Cell Towers work great for me.

:scratchchin: So, you have a small range set to trigger an event, and the task just triggers on that event? Any increase in battery usage? I think I read that if you narrow the range down to being too small, your phone has to poll the network for location more often or something :scratchchin:

Probably, point is hardware is growing at a much faster rate and OS is not able to keep up. With the kind of hardware we have in flagship anything after 4.2 runs with hardly any lag.

Hence going forward USP of nexus has to be price.

^^ It is definitely going to be price for quite some time to come. Google sells these not to make profits but just to get the latest version and reference hw out in the pockets of public asap to further the adoption of android.
