landmarktiger
I had a power cut today while playing BFBC2 on PS3 which is nothing unsual- i just do what i always do- just turn the console back on when power comes back. But this time i turned it on - it gave me a message that my PS3 files are corrupted and i need to restore(soon as it boots- wont even show the XMB). I press ok and it goes ahead and after its done it reboots and gives the same message again. I have dont this about 10 times and turned my console on and off also but it is stuck and wont go past the message. I have a brand new PS3 slim 250GB. I am going to be PISSED if my console breaks because of power cuts. Already have to rot in this heat and now my console

Karooo
For going into recovery mode, you need to hold the power button twice, you don't need XMB for it.

ColorCodePurple
I thought the PS3 Slim runs with the inverter Atleast mine does without problem. There isnt big differance between the 120GB model and 250GB model right?

landmarktiger
I did some googling and found out i can go about this in 2 ways ( keeping my fingers crossed they work) 1) Restore PS3 system in recovery mode(as posted above) 2) Reformatt hard drive with a laptop/another PS3 /or my own PS3(which is tricky) Im not sure which one to go for but either way i will loose all my data on hard drive ........ Has this not happened to anyone else? considering we all suffer from power cuts. Also i will also loose my account info - can i recover both my online IDs from PSN? Also to avoid this in future i am considering an UPS- only reason i hadnt bought one yet was i was told all UPS - even the good quality ones are not good for the consoles as they make them skip cycles or something. I used to use a UPS before for my 360, but sometimes it made it go in temporary RROD mode ina power cut which freaked me out so i stopped using..Do you guys recommend an UPS for my PS3/360? Sumanth_Champion
I have been playing my PS3 with UPS from day 1. It was never a problem. till last week. It got YLOD for a completely different reason though . Few simple things to follow. 1. Connect ur PS3 to a UPS 2. Allways do system update using USB option 3. Have enough ventillation/airflow for ur ps3 while playing and u will most propably hve a vry long association with ur PS3.
anish81
^^ For ups to use with console, u better go for a pure sin-wave one. Microtek and Su-kam have them. Pls check in their websites.

landmarktiger
dude u wont lose any data by rebuilding your database.. it will juss delete your INBOX.. and it takes around 2-3mins.. I tried this and database option gives me "hard drive cannot be accessed" Option 3 or restore file system puts me in the same loop. I think my only option is reformating and loosing all my data - if thatl work in the first place

KWC
+1 Can you guys recommend a good UPS for PS3 & Xbox 360? Anything above 600 VA. APC's are good, expensive though! I'm using a Microtek, its so so.
landmarktiger
Ok i finally got it to work but i had to reformat the PS3 hard drive by selecting option 5. I lost all my data from hard drive and i hadnt synched my trophy info with the server for some time so lost most of those too... Lesson learned - buy a UPS/backup data and synch trophies regularly For a UPS - i read i need to buy a pure sine wave above 600VA? I am looking to power PS3 and xbox 360(not together) and if possible my 26inch LCD TV and airtel modem- but PS3 and xbox are my priority. I looked at SUkam since iv heard bad things about microtech but they dont list prices and where to buy in delhi. Anyone knows how much will it cost and will it be safe for the PS3 and if it will work 100% of the time?

WhiteWolf
Don't Buy Microtek UPS..it sux.. Get APC 550V-300W ..works with 120GB Slim... Slim uses max 101w power only.. So 550v is best.....APC backup is solid....Microtek sux when it comes to handling power fluctuation .. When you are playing on PS3, switch off your 360 and when you are playing 360 then keep your PS3 off.....550V-300w APC can handle PS3 nd Your LCD tv without any problem...26inch LCD tv's use max 110w or less power...So it can handle your Modem,PS3 & TV without any problem
