First details from Deus Ex 3

The first screens and info from Deus Ex 3 have been released. It is under development at the new Eidos Montreal studios.

The game takes place in the year 2027 and the main character Adam Jensen is a security guard at a biotech company called Sarif. One day the offices are stormed by men in black and almost everyone is killed... almost. Jensen survives and makes it his business to find out what has been going on.

We will have to wait until 2010 before Deus Ex 3 is released. It will be interesting to see if it can live up to the original after the sequel failed to set the world on fire.

So SE are doing the cinematics for it.

"Deus Ex 3 is going to be the first project which will be a concrete product of joint effort between Square Enix and Eidos," said D'Astous. "The cinematics—by which I mean any CGI pre-rendered cinematics — are going to be done in Tokyo by Square Enix, and that's going to be amazing."

Explaining the background for this announcement, D'Astous said, "It was in April when Square Enix acquired us, and by June, July I was trying to think of a project we could do together. One morning I woke up and I said, we'll, they're known for their cinematics, so why not get them involved with those?"

Though the level of cinematic sequences in Deus Ex 3 is currently un-announced, D'Astous claimed Square Enix would at least be working on the trailers and the introduction cinematic.

CGI cutscenes? Why? Seriously. WHY?

Also, hey gramps, read em and weep. :wOOtjumpy:

"We already have some pre-visualisations," continued D'Astous. "The people in Tokyo are just so glad to work on it; this is the first project for them that's a non-Final Fantasy title— they even want to work on Thief 4 too, so everyone is really excited."

seems like there may not be a console version at all

"It has been confirmed that the game is a cyberpunk prequel to the first game though and Eidos has previously hinted that it might not be getting a console release due to the complexity of the game."

that makes me mildly interested about it ,after the crappola DX2:IW from eidos. But still my major worry is Warren spector is not working on the game  .

Deus Ex: Human Revolution' trademarked

Over two years ago, Eidos Interactive announced its newly formed Montreal Studio was working on Deus Ex 3, expected later this year. Since then, though, little has been revealed about the project other than a general fall 2010 release window.

2004's Invisible War was the last game in the Deus Ex series.

This week, the game appears to have resurfaced, courtesy of two trademark filings with the US Patent and Trademark Office by Square Enix, which bought Eidos last year. Both filed on February 4, 2010, the two applications are for the title "Deus Ex: Human Revolution" and "Deus Ex Human Revolution" (sans colon).

Square Enix's trademarks would cover use of the Deus Ex: Human Revolution titles in virtually every type of game-related media, including: "computer game software; video game software; computer games and video games downloadable from a remote computer location or recorded on CD-ROMs, compact discs, and game cartridges; downloadable electronic publications in the nature of newsletters and magazines featuring action adventure games."

Unfortunately, other than the publisher, developer, and now likely final title for Deus Ex 3, little is officially known about the project. However, according to a 2008 report on fan site Deusexcentral.com attributed to Eidos Montreal community manager Rene Valen, the game will be an action-RPG like its two predecessors, Deus Ex (2000) and Deus Ex: Invisible War (2004). (Deus Ex: The Conspiracy, a PlayStation 2 port of the original game, was released in 2002.)

Valen is quoted as saying that Deus Ex 3 "combines near-future elements with a Renaissance/Baroque twist. We call it 'Cyber Renaissance.'" He reportedly said it will sport the same sort of decision-driven, consequences-filled branching storyline as the first two games, as well as share their first-person perspective. Cover-based stealth will also reportedly figure heavily in the game, which will reportedly sport cinematic sequences produced by Square Enix directly.
