I've got Samsung 40" 550B LCD.

No complaints. In fact, occasionally too bright.

Give plasma a serious thought. I read some interesting comparisons on LCD vs Plasma

Most important: seeing is believing. see how the picture looks on the tv in various situations. Esp how DTH looks.

Go for a panasonic Plasma,Price will be higher but you will never regret and if you are sticking with the LCD's Samsung and Sony is the Best,i would say go for plasma because they deliver very Sharp images

For gaming purpose, go for lcd. Stretch your budget a little if possible. You can get 40 incher samsung lcd for around 45-50k. Though I would advice Sony Bravia comparing all aspects.

Also, Plasma tv would raise your electricity bill as compared to LCD or LED. So after an year ( or say two ) it would square the difference between buying a Plasma and paying higher electricity bills or Buying costlier LCD and paying lil lower electricity bills. Check this link.

Also if you go for LCD, go for a good model of either Samsung or Sony brand only and you won't repent.

I would say avoid suggestions, check reviews online if you want to, visit some good electronic outlet ( like croma ) checkout as many models as you can, compare the features, price, distance, viewing angle, then decide.

I bought a Samsung 40C530 for 49k just 15 days back after getting the suggestions on HiFiVision and I'm very satisfied with it for gaming, SD watching (DTH) and movies are absolutely amazing especially 1080p material

best of luck
