I'm loving this game. Yes, its the same basic Infamous core, but maybe its the new city or how the side missions are so much more fun, but I'm having a blast. Enjoying it way more than the first game. However, I think I've been spoiled by Assassins Creed because the climbing doesn't seem as fluid and you just have to button mash to reach the top.

Also, the graphics are vastly improved, especially in cutscenes.

This game is a BLAST !!!! Agree with the button mashing climbing...apart from that and the constipated new face of cole....the game ROCKS !!!

Instead of button mashing to climb...look for those special electric poles that can propel you to the top of the building...the yellow wired strip kinda things...there should be one on each building...normally in the back alley.

They are called Vertical Launch Poles...there is a trophy for using these 50 times. :naughty:

Also no more climbing after you unlock the Lightning Tether. Then you can go Spiderman

apart from that and the constipated new face of cole....

...and that douchebag voice :| I complained about the raspy Cole in the first game but now I miss him.

Anyone tried Infamous 1 Cole skin? Looks crap, I thought we will get exact same Cole from first game, but no, they only change the T-shirt, and that too a lame one.

Also, the Samurai Sword replacement for Amp looks awesome.

Isn't he wearing the old outfit during the opening scene? They should have just kept that as the SE "classic Cole" costume.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to get the SE... B-b-but katana amp :surprise:

no real spoilers as such but this post is probably best read if you've finished the game or are close to it.

i'm near the end of the game and i feel that it's getting tedious now. a lot of small flaws get amplified in the last stages of the game and you really start to feel the repetition.

there are only a certain number of sidequest types, and i've done them all numerous times. i've collected ~200 blast shards which is a crazy number and it's still less than two thirds of the total. the blast shards themselves mean almost nothing at this stage... it takes 40 of them to increase your electrical power by 1 pip and that 1 pip will mean nothing when you get to the energy sucking fights at the end. it's not fun or challenging to collect them... you do it for the sake of doing it. i was kind of shocked when i saw that i had gotten the trophy for stopping muggings 80 times. 80 times! that is the definition of tedium.

at the end, the design issues start to grate on your nerves as well. the movement in the game is pretty fluid and fun but the way collision detection works can get you killed. you can be standing on an almost flat surface but there's a small brick or something and the game will see you as perched on a ledge which means you can't use ice launch to get away. this has gotten me killed multiple times as i tried to escape enemies to recharge my health. most of the time this happens when those shotgun dudes blink next to you and blow you away with their weapon. if you don't die instantly, you will get killed by the other enemies shooting normally while you fight against the collision detection mechanics in an attempt to get away. i unlocked the last area and it seems like they've run out of ideas now, basically throwing enemies at you in numbers. there was one side mission in which one mini boss is fighting another mini boss, and you have to defeat them both. except they're not actually fighting at all, i checked... neither of them lose any health until you start damaging them. this is not so bad, except for thing... your powers have increased, your electrical charge capacity has increased, your enemies have increased, the enemy difficulty has increased but there's one thing they forgot to increase... your charging. the generator that gave you 80-100% charge in the first part of the game will now only give you 30-40%. with fights that require multiple, full charges to complete, i find myself wasting time running around recharging at 3-4 different places before engaging the enemy again. this is especially bad when you come across the mini boss who regenerates health... you will likely use up all your charge to bring him low, and then you'll end up running around all over the place sucking 1-2 pips of charge from cars and bulbs, getting frustrated as your enemy's health regenerates. in my opinion, the gigawatt charge ability should have let you suck more energy from the power sources instead of just letting you suck it up faster.

this post is not supposed to sound as bad as it does. the game is good, looks nice, it's fun to play and especially use your powers but they've messed up the balance near the end. prototype had the same sort of problem... throw lots of enemies at you instead of doing something interesting. that sh*t got old fast. and while this game is nowhere near as bad as prototype in that respect, they still subscribe to the same school of thinking when it comes to balancing the game. one has to wonder whether balancing it is even a good idea. i was watching the giantbomb quicklook for the game and jeff gerstmann said something interesting... you play a game like this to be overpowered. it's not even supposed to be fair, you're a badass who destroys everything in his path. in my case, my almost fully upgraded cole keep running from pillar to post (literally) trying to recharge powers so that he can go back and finish fights. somewhere i feel there is a disconnect from actually being a superhero.

what I feel they should've done is once you finish with one playthrough, they should give you the option to continue with the same number of blast shards collected in the first playthrough. Collecting them all over again is a pain in the rear

Ok, haven't started with this game as am completing infy 1, and the side missions are a bit repetitive, and love the parkour style.

How better if infy2 as compared to 1?

n00b :fear:

It's similar in structure but the mechanics have been improved and polished. Side missions are less repetitive and new powers have been added. Movement feels smoother and less jerky. Frame rate is improved. The city looks better and there are a lot of destructible objects in the environment.
